I don't think such a move is good. Defence is the only place where merit list actually means merit list. A place where so called upper caste people are not treated like rejected maal. How about getting rid of pension of politicians first? And what about the Muslim/Xtan appeasement which the Gov does? Uss samay paisa nhi jata?
if the idea is to understand this issue, going in tangents will not help. look at it from defence budget allocation and capex requirements perspective to start with.

numbers are available below to get started.

You could get the money by cutting the pensions of all politicians, officials and civil servants too. There is an whole army out there of civilians getting pensions. How is it that we have enough money to pay the civilians and keep increasing it often while targeting only out soldiers ? Extremely unfair and unjust.

We have millions of unemployed people in India willing to do any job for any payment. Even I am unemployed at present. Just look ar the private sector. Do they not get people by not offering pensions? Are you living in India or in your own fantasy land? Here we have a nearly a million people applying for a mere 1000 jobs. Even if their pensions are removed we would get people in lakhs and this is a fact. Aren’t the private sector not getting ?

That's why BJP got rid of the old pension scheme. Punjab under AAP brought back the old pension scheme and now Punjab is bankrupted.

BJP is trying to change the pension scheme but change is hard. The Indian bureaucracy is a very formidable opponent.

Well thinking of politicians to have their pensions cancelled by politicians themselves makes it clear who is living in la la land 😅

No one is so foolish to think that they would cancel it when they keep increasing it for themselves. People need to force the changes one way or another. The point I am trying to make is that soldiers have seen their pension reduced or canceled while civilians have seen it increasing which proves we have more than enough money. In the end it’s the weak who get targeted while those to centre of power enjoy all the benefits.

Yes that’s true. The entire bureaucracy is extremely protective of its perks, pensions and benefits like a tiger protecting its cubs. Perhaps we should just sweep away this system which we inherited from the British Raj and start something new.

Okay then we would see in 3-4 years whether our soldiers are better equipped or not. It seems like the higher army officials just want more and more money.

take 10 years minimum per equipment/equipment profile.

Pre-RFI - 2-3 years minimum
RFI to tender - 3-4 years minimum
order to delivery - 4 years minimum

and this is for equipment where solutions are available and there is no ambiguity in requirement.
where ever there is no readily available solution and SQR is ambiguous, add more years for the procurement cycle per equipment.

Yes I agree. Even the RFI/RFP have unrealistic requirements. Parrikar himself has bemoaned army’s fancy for “marvel comics” weapons.

Add in 1-1.5 years to train on the equipment to deploy in the field

India puts two-ton tank-killer robot into action in exercise
Exemplifying cutting-edge technology, India’s Gridbots Technologies Private Limited is set to unveil its groundbreaking invention, the TITAN Autonomous Tank Killer.

Weighing a staggering 2000 kilograms, this titan of technology is engineered to autonomously detect and annihilate enemy tanks, a potent augmentation to the nation’s defensive arsenal.

The TITAN by Gridbots is primed to premiere at a Tri-Service exercise. This event brings together India’s Army, Navy, and Air Force, underlining the remarkable advances made by Gridbots Technologies in defense technology. The location of the event remains undisclosed.

A standout attribute of the TITAN Autonomous Tank Killer is its weaponry. Armed with the ‘Amogha-III’ missile, a product of Bharat Dynamics Limited [BDL], TITAN is notably formidable.

The Amogha-III, a state-of-the-art man-portable missile, is a ‘fire-and-forget’ device, requiring minimal user intervention, thus, making it highly effective.

Equipped with an anti-armor tandem warhead, the missile exhibits a knack for penetrating the most robust armor, effortlessly breezing through Explosive Reactive Armor [ERA].

However, the TITAN isn’t just about pure offensive firepower. This autonomous tank annihilator flaunts an impressive spec sheet, including a top speed of 20 kilometers per hour for battlefield mobility. Furthermore, with a 20-kilometer mesh radio range, it is capable of sustaining fluid communication with command structures and other units.

What distinguishes TITAN is its adaptability. A generous 1.5-ton payload capacity means the TITAN can be equipped to fulfill diverse roles, from inspections to surveillance and reconnaissance.

This India-made machine is equipped with an automated target-tracking system which, hand in hand with a thermal sight, guarantees meticulous identification and engagement of enemy targets.

Daksh and AUGV
India has developed several combat and intelligence robots to enhance its defense capabilities. One notable example is the Daksh robot, developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization [DRDO].

Daksh is a remotely operated robot designed for bomb disposal and hazardous material handling. It can be controlled from a safe distance and is equipped with a variety of sensors and tools to detect and neutralize explosives.

Another significant development is the Autonomous Unmanned Ground Vehicle [AUGV] developed by the Indian Army. This robot is designed for surveillance and reconnaissance missions. It can navigate various terrains and collect real-time intelligence through its advanced sensors and cameras.

Robots for combat missions
Additionally, India has also developed the Bharat series of robots, which includes the Bharat-1 and Bharat-2. These robots are designed for combat scenarios and can be used for tasks such as surveillance, target acquisition, and even engaging enemies. They are equipped with advanced weaponry systems and can operate in challenging environments.

Furthermore, the Indian Navy has developed an Unmanned Surface Vessel [USV] called the ‘Barracuda.’ This autonomous robot is primarily used for maritime surveillance and reconnaissance missions. It can navigate through water bodies, collect data, and transmit real-time information to the command center.

Sorry, this may not be the right question to ask here, but is there a service symbol like NATO in the Indian Army? Also, are those military symbols unique to India?
