Ya'll Nibbiars What do you expect from a mleecha account, stressing own strong points and attacking our weak points, nor their most AAG's has have proximity rounds. And our requirements is vastly different from theirs. Saying we don't posses industrial capabilities to create mobile wheeler AAG's, what a joke article is this.

ARMY WING TAKES UP LOCAL PROJECTS WORTH RS 44,000 CRORE
NEW DELHI:
The multi-pronged in-house indigenisation push of the Indian Army is leading to successes in the form of projects worth more than `44,000 crore involving niche and modern technologies.

Sources in the military establishment confirmed that under the emergency procurement for the Army, 49 schemes worth `7,600 crore, have been contracted catering for capabilities ranging from mobility solutions to communication systems, energy solutions, individual protective equipment, drones & counter drones, armament and simulators.

While this is the fourth tranche, 68 schemes worth Rs 6,600 crore were signed in the first three tranches of the emergency procurement.

As part of the fourth tranche, another Rs 7,000 crore deal comprising 34 schemes is under the final stages of procurement, said sources.

"Niche technologies like logistic & nano drones, counter-drones, loiter munitions, the unarmed aerial vehicle launched precision-guided missiles, Automatic Spectrum Monitoring Systems, etc are being procured.”

Keeping the changing geopolitics and requirement to indigenise defense production the Indian Army established the Army Design Bureau (ADB) in 2016 which has been working to 'Indigenise to Modernise by connecting capabilities of the Industry, Academia, Defence Public Sector undertakings & Defence Research and Development.”

In a major step, the industry has come up with fully funded projects which are said to help in import substitution. “A total of 45 Make II projects worth `30,000 crore have been initiated in a short period of time with the first contract signed for Maneuverable Expendable Aerial Target in Jan 2022. The second contract for Upgraded Assault Track Way was signed on 28 Feb 23. These include 19 cases initiated based on Suo-Moto proposals.

Aiming to create solutions, the ADB is interacting with various Central and state industrial bodies for collaboration to increase its engagement with Industry, Micro Small Medium Entrepreneur (MSME), and startups.

In addition to the above projects, presently 46 projects of the Indian Army (costing `400 crore including a grant in aid and procurement of prototypes) as part of its challenge are being furthered.

DAC approves proposals worth Rs 7,800 crore to enhance operational capabilities of the Armed Forces
Posted On: 24 AUG 2023 3:55PM by PIB Delhi

A Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) meeting, held under the chairmanship of Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for capital acquisition proposals worth approximately Rs 7,800 crore on August 24, 2023. To enhance the efficiency of the Indian Air Force, the DAC has granted AoN for procurement and installation of Electronic Warfare (EW) Suite on Mi-17 V5 Helicopters under Buy (Indian-IDDM) category which will enhance better survivability of Helicopters. The EW Suite will be procured from Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).

The DAC has also accorded AoN for procurement of Ground-Based Autonomous System for mechanised infantry and armoured regiments which will enable various operations like unmanned surveillance, logistic delivery of ammunition, fuel & spares and casualty evacuation in the battle field.

Proposals for procurement of 7.62x51 mm Light Machine Gun (LMG) and Bridge Laying Tank (BLT) have also been given go ahead by the DAC. While induction of LMG will enhance fighting capabilities of infantry forces, the induction of BLT will result in faster movement of Mechanised Forces. The AoN for procurement of Ruggedised Laptops and Tablets for the Indian Army under Project Shakti has also been accorded. All these procurements will be sourced from Indigenous vendors only.

To enhance the operational capability of the MH-60R Helicopters of the Indian Navy, the DAC has accorded AoN for procurement of weapons for the same.

Back in 2020 we have placed an order of ~16,500 NG7. Out of these 6000 were already delivered. This could be the follow up clearance of remaining trance. We have not yet heard anything regarding a new deal from IWI or Adani group. So chances are, this is not a new order.

For the remaining 34000 guns, GoI would go for MII in all probability.

I guess the opinion I'm going to express won't be very popular but I think that if your children hold citizenship or permanent residency abroad, you shouldnt be holding high posts, whether in the government, judiciary and especially in the armed forces when you are inviting other people's children to join and maybe risk their lives . Our entire system has been corrupted by politicians and the bureaucracy who have gone out of their way to facilitate those who have surrendered Indian citizenship ( driven by personal interests) and where the courts have sometimes prevented the rare government moves to put restrictions on non citizens. At the very least, people holding such positions must make these declarations of children being abroad public and the top brass of the armed forces must be held to a higher standard just as they do with their rules which are different than what is applied to the general public.

A large number of Indian middle class sturggles so that their kids can get a better future... Instead of stopping them from going abroad, we should be looking to create those opportunities here first, else we end up like East Berlin.

Fair enough and I don't disagree with the point you are making but we can't have our system corrupted by those whose interests are bifurcated. You cannot be tasked with being responsible for India's upliftment if either you and/or your children believe that there is no future here. When you look at the stupidly named OCI card etc, its being driven by people with probable vested interest since their own progeny are likely to be beneficiaries. As for the Armed forces, a senior officer must be morally able to lead his force. If his children seek a future abroad, on what basis will he ask other people to send their children to serve and if necessary, die for this country.

I agree with this, its pure BS and utter selfishness and plain ignorance. These are days where you can get MIT quality sessions from the comfort of your arm chair via free videos from basic Math to advanced classes. For those that have determination will find ways and only bottomfeeders and frankly idiots will move overseas when opportunities are right in front you here in India vs cooliegiri in sinking west.....you can wash your hands off of your kids raising them in west although its getting there in India too....sometimes I think I am correct in thinking I live in braindead society and wider world. Pathetic mechanical parenting is what it is vanity at best but stupidity as usual....

It would appear that the Turkish Bayraktar has reappeared in the Ukraine - Russia war. It had been withdrawn last year after a few were shot down by the Russian and some were captured intact. It is cheap and very effective except that the Russian managed to grab all the technology it had.

Now, it would appear that a newer version has reappeared. It is in use in Ukraine.

My point is that Pakistan has purchased this version or another version of this armed drone from Turkey for $3.5 billion deal. About 300 of Pakistani personnel were under training in Turkey, last I heard. Hence, although India is buying or making its own armed drones but careful thought has to be given to shoot it down if it appears in and around Indian borders. There may be effective counters to flying bombs/drones as we know ‘Inderjaal‘ counter drone is ready . This Turkish drone flies high like a plane and unleashes missiles from 10, 000 feet. It has to be shot down either electronically as the Russians did or a very expensive missile has to be fired at it.

You know a Tejas can easily shoot them down with R-73. Nothing to loose sleep about.
