I wasn't talking about towed arty in mountains,only in plains.In plains its suicide to use towed arty these days with drones and counter battery radars.

For that we have gone for K-9. It was planned only for western sector. But after its deployment in Ladakh, we have again raised an AON of 200 guns.
So we would be deploying K-9 in those heights too, but in limited numbers. So towed artillery is something which we can't ditch.

Truck based artillery at the least,ideally tracked k9.We have too much towed.Towed should not be deployed outside of mountains.

this is a 2030 scenario, provided MGS are ordered in next two years. even then towed arty is going to be the primary gun by that time.

The original contract was to upgrade 300 M-46 guns to 155/45 cal.
