Army has a tendency to buy stuff even if it dosen't work from foreign (Ex: Spike whereas NAG passed in trials, Beta Battle Comp, etc). Army puts Indian stuff through endless trials (user trails) while foreign stuff is demoed in Factory Trials before purchasing. The CDS has some more sense than other army guys but it still isnt translating into action.

NO. Nag is Nag and MPATGM is MPATGM ... both are different class ...

MPATGM is derivative of NAG like the Israeli spike missile series with heli /vehicle and man portable land launch version.

USA offered to develop one with us based on Javelin in early 2010s but we refused due to NAG and MPATGM being under dev that time.

Really?nag is 2kg lighter and has more penetrating power unlike the so called 4th gen atgm spike.Its seeker is great and has performed really well in the desert trials.Be informed properly before you post any shit here

Dude what you read in media through DRDO mouth or OFB that our stuff was best performed blah blah and OFB with their best quality products ammunition rifles etc made in india.

Truth is they perform shit in real. Not every product is bad but not every product is good either.

More important when they mass produce them the quality degrades.

Spike will be used for Northern region with heat being no issue .

These procurement are on emergency basis and for the purpose to overcome the immediate shortfall...

The future is always home made weapons and ammunition ... These very OFBs production units have successfully supported the World War - II efforts then why there was no quality issues ? Think about it ...

Beating and blaming the OFBs and DRDOs is very unfair as they do their work with minuscule funding and manpower ...

These OFBs tooling facilities were neglected and had not been upgraded for 20 to 30 years ... we can not expect high quality products with out dated machines and production tools ... Nor there was any effort spent for better quality assurance and project management ...

Every nations be it USA, France or UK have faced the same quality and delivery issues [ American Abram tank has also had many issues initially ... The Americans did not discarded it unlike IA ... they persisted with it and over time they improved upon it ]...

DRDO is learning and improving and it has delivered to the nation ... Better days ahead ...

NAG is an ATGM which needs its own armored carrier.

Say, we have a strike formation and the enemy takes out half a dozen of our Namica carriers. Where does that leave the formation w.r.t anti-tank capability when the enemy armor charges ahead?
Oh, quick, get those Kornets out, those Milans.. where the f*** are they?

Damn.. where did that tank/APC appear from? Quick, knock it out before they engage us. They are 200 metres away and closing in but the NAG can't engage them.

Can IA carry the NAG missile even on a jeep? The jeep mounted RCL's we had were quite effective.

Can the NAG be moved around in similar fashion, aimed at an enemy tank and take it out?

Spike is generation ahead of Nag and its derivatives. World is moving towards 5th gen ATGMs yet drdo can't even deploy a 3rd generation one.Even worse is we haven't even seen a test of Man Portable Nag from its CLU.
