Been there done that. Kalyani, L&T, etc etc all making stuff in conjunction with DRDO and others.DRDO should open up a JV with the likes of
Ambani and adani and Tata , mahindra.
Arjun problem is no common spares, as for Tejas, IAF will buy try to common spare with other jet . Sir T 90s and T 90ms has spare common with T 72 and many other engineering system , cheaper to maintain . If DRDO in next version increase commonality the IA will buy more as
Dude don't fool yourself by quoting logistic. By this logic, you will never be able to buy anything designed and developed locally unless it is more or less copy or derivative of existing equipment. As other have mentioned it is not that IA/IAF has not inducted new platforms.
Army, imported air force and bureaucracy will suck the last penny as long as it can. Now that GOI has spent much time and effort in R&D on Arjun and LCA; they are just placing minimal orders(bheek mein) to keep civilians mouth shut. They will keep citing some shortcomings and make big issue out of it to keep tap running.
Bechare bureaucrats/generals/politicians ke bhi bibi-bache hote hai. BJP ko next election ka chanda kidhar se milega? Unka bhi kuch socho
Sarcasm aside, this is making local industry growth 10 times more difficult.
Very true...When it come to Foran maal they do not get into these details of common spares/parts or any drawbacks....Dude don't fool yourself by quoting logistic. They blackmail and blame Other organisations.... DRDO and HAL adds to it with there efficienfy dedication and hardwordTruthfully spoken. The import minded Airforce and Army are reluctant to buy anything locally. They know they can use the Yellow Jouranlism to pressure the government.
Well thankfully our helicopters are nit ending up with same fate. Dhruv is being ordered in numbers and LCH is now in LSP, Rudra will start being delivered from 2018. So, I am not worried about that. As for Arjun Mk2, army should buy 400 and deploy them for ops in Plain areas.FYI - The Apache Order is being increased to another 11 (option) + 39 New Orders to the 22 already bought.
Meanwhile the LCH is in LSP and Continued testing.
First of all one thing to be made clear, apache cannot fight in Himalayan hights. This makes sure that LCH roles out in huge numbers. IAF will not ditch LCH because, its one of its kind, highest flying heli in world. And we need air support in Siachen and Laddakh Leh and higher regions, there LCH would be our only hope.Sorry its 39 new apache's - this includes the 11 option from the first order.

I have a bad feeling
HAL Chairman has a statement saying that there are NO definite orders for LCH but he is hoping LSP get accepted and then orders come. Similar words I have seen about the arjun ;(
LCH is mainly for support role in high terrain and Apache is for attack role in low terrain. So LCH would be there for sure, but have to see in how many numbers.First of all one thing to be made clear, apache cannot fight in Himalayan hights. Well according to the livefist link, the 28 Apaches will go to IA too. But after IAF has got its shares.LCH is mainly for support role in high terrain and Apache is for attack role in low terrain. So LCH would be there for sure, but have to see in how many numbers.
Moreover primary user of Apache would be IAF and LCH would be IA. Thank god for the sane decision of MoD when they decided to give LCH to IA instead of IAF in their tug of war.
Yea my bad lol ;pWoah, I just realized that we are discussing about attack helicopters on wrong thread. Sorry Mods. Please shift the discussion to the right thread.
