It's an APC designed to survive small arms fire. All the APCs in the world can very well be taken out by an ATGM.
Yes but most of them have slim profiles that prevent themselves from sticking out like a fat juicy target of a sore thumb. This APC is damn huge.

Only existing orders are there.
1. ASLV - Mahindra Defence to manufacture armoured tactical vehicles for Indian Army (livemint.com)
2.M4 - https://theprint.in/defence/army-pl...m4-armoured-vehicles-tested-in-ladakh/610278/

Another vehicle which may be purchased is Force motors LSV.

I don't know how much of them is ordered.

But overall GYPSY will be replaced with this or ASLV depending upon army's need.

there Is a recent DAC approval for GS (weight category not mentioned) vehicle procurement. we haven’t seen safari and Scorpio in western sector, perhaps Force Gurkha will replace gypsy.

this is unless Tata and Mahindra team up and spoil the tender process.

How good is the armor? It is a big hulking piece that anybody can pick out from miles away. It would be an easy target for ATGMS, rpgs, etc.
unless your APC or IFV has an active protection system like trophy, etc dont expect it to fare well against any dedicated Anti Armour Solution.

All APCs and IFVs are meant for mobilizing infantry and supporting them while they disembark and deploy not to take direct heavy fire from Main Battle Tanks or dedicated AT Weapons.

if it is designated by an anti amrour capable unit and engaged then somebody made a tactical error.APCs should not be deployed and used without support alone in a scenario where there is combined arms effort from our part.

these are not meant for taking and absorbing heavy fire but for supporting and mechanizing and protecting units from all forms of small arms fire and preventing casualties due to mines.

it does not matter if it is little bigger than the soviet era apcs and ifvs we have because even if they were caught out and engaged, they would not be able to survive and even american and western apcs and ifvs wont survive.

the increased size could be used for greater space formore troop capacity, more ammo and fuel and I think this IFV does have an amphibious ability.

The problem in today's modern warfare is that the anti-armor solutions such as Javelins and NLAWs are very portable and easy to carry around and fire with little training. They will be easy sitting targets and can produce a lot of casualties fit for media consumption and info/propaganda warfare.
