Fitting tribute to the PT 76 which had an illustrious service with IA.
PT 76 played a significant role in our wars, especially the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War where PT76s aided by superior tactics defeated much powerful Chaffee tanks of Pakistan Army despite being outnumbered.

The amphibious capability of PT 76 was put to good use in ferrying troops and supplies across canals and rivers during the war.

Notably, a Vietnamese PT 76 was the first casualty of TOW missile, first ever combat kill of any ATGM in the world.

Trade mark Army speculation is 200 vehicles. But this type of wheeled and track IFV are used in mixed fashion by PLA. If we go by this fashion then it requirement is higher than 200.

Based on the colour ITBP or BSF? Also if I’m not mistaken the jet for amphibious mobility is missing in these so it makes me believe it’s for a CAPF or export.

Surprised that they’ve asked for PKT based RCWS with the 7.62x54R round and not an FN MAG based RCWS with the 7.62 NATO rounds as the CAPFs use more commonly that the 7.62x54R ammunition.

The vehicle has been designed to provide protection against land mines, meeting level III, STANAG 4569. The hull configuration evolved follows a 'V’-type bottom with double configuration consisting of an inner panel and bottom panel. The bottom panel is designed to deflect the blast energy and get deformed to minimize the blast effects

It's an APC designed to survive small arms fire. All the APCs in the world can very well be taken out by an ATGM.
