Does any one know if new T-90's are still being inducted into IA?
No new T-90 battalions raised in last 3 years AFAIK.
one T-72 raised in north east last year.

One thing that needs to be worried that no Indian Main Battle Tank or Armoured Vehicle in service has an Active Protection Suite - APS either soft-kill or hard-kill. Though Rafael offered us ASPRO-A (Trophy) APS we turned it down because of single-vendor problem . India has rejected Russian offer of installing Arena active protection system (APS) developed at Russia’s Kolomna-based Engineering Design Bureau for the purpose of protecting its newly ordered Russian T-90MS tanks for the Indian Army.

I hope DRDO makes an APS to be installed on future Main Battle Tanks like FMBT and FICV. Arjun Mk.2 has got ALWACS . The ALWACS include four E-LWS sensors that can detect, categorise and pinpoint laser sources, including rangefinders, designators, beam-riders, and infra-red illuminators. E-LWS also enables direction indication for all threats, as well as audio and visual warnings. It is immune to reflection, gunfire, lightning, fire and self-electro-optical operations. The other two components of ALWACS are an IR jammer, and two 8-launcher aerosol smoke screening systems.

While our immediate competitors have got APS and are also developing new ones.

China has recently developed GL5 active protection system for main battle tanks

And thats a knock off of what exactly? With these APS systems, means the infantry won't want to be around armour. Double edged sword isn't it?
