This seems to be a improvised vehicle, The chassis is perhaps of stretched out Maruti Jeep or Tata Mobile 207..

Their are many private companies who do the fabrication as per Army instruction like metaltech or lagger etc ..

There are marksman with northern command, because tenders for marksman spares do keep coming up almost every month from northern command.

The bullet proof vehicle was actually TATA LAMV originally designated for COIN operation but when General Bikram Singh took over he undo most what General V.K Singh done in his time.

One of the changes was changing role of TATA LAMV from Coin to Recon, Basically a BRDM replacement, But BRDM were never retired nor LAMV got any orders.

Mean while in 2016 Army order Panthera-T6 vehicle for CT operations with a huge PR bang which was not very successful under present government, The same TATA LAMV made a come back in new avatar of TATA LSV ..

The bullet proof vehicle was actually TATA LAMV originally designated for COIN operation but when General Bikram Singh took over he undo most what General V.K Singh done in his time. One of the changes was changing role of TATA LAMV from Coin to Recon, Basically a BRDM replacement, But BRDM were never retired nor LAMV got any orders.

The same TATA LAMV made a come back in new avatar of TATA LSV with modification for LSV role in 2017.

Mean while in 2016 Army order Panthera-T6 vehicle for CT operations with a huge PR bang which was not very successful under present government, The perfect excuse was to protect from stone, The vehicle is not inducted in mass for gud reason, Army instead order more MPVs, But TATA LAMV will be missed badly.

Superb post there. Basically there is a clear army requirement of an armoured jeep for COIN, which is getting some roadblock or the other. We need a vehicle which is bigger and more powerful than Gypsy and Rakshak, but smaller than Aditya or Casspir.

So Panthera T6 deal is offically axed?

The TATA LSV seems to be for the IA's LSV requirement (the one that had been cancelled earlier that had seen the earlier version of the Mahindra AXE and TATA LSV take part), I'm not sure that the IA has an active COIN vehicle requirement.

TATA LSV is clearly desperatly needed but I have ZERO confidence in the IA to actually order it (or anything else), their entire procurement process is a joke.

SRINAGAR: The Centre has allocated funds for the purchase of bullet-proof vehicles for Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said during his interaction with cops in south Kashmir's Anantnag district today.

His announcement comes in the wake of the killing of six police personnel, including SHO Feroz Ahmad, in Achabal area of Anantnag district on June 16. The slain SHO had requisitioned a bullet-proof vehicle in view of the danger posed by militants in south Kashmir, but was not provided one.


"We have allocated funds for purchase of bullet-proof vehicles for Jammu and Kashmir police," Mr Singh said in Anantnag, 52 kilometres from here.

The Home Minister also said the Centre has approved funds for opening a trauma centre for police personnel and lauded them for working in the "extremely challenging conditions" in the Valley.

He paid tributes to the sacrifice made by ASI Abdul Rasheed and constable Imtiyaz who were killed in militant attacks in south Kashmir recently.



"Their supreme sacrifices have been made for Kashmir. We are proud of the police personnel. You are working in extremely challenging conditions here. I do not have words to praise the bravery of our brave personnel from Jammu and Kashmir police. Even the Prime Minister has praised your courage," he said.


Underlining the priority attached by the Centre to Kashmir, Mr Singh said no other home minister had ever visited the state so frequently. "I have come to the state the fifth time within a year or so."

The Home Minister said he had come with an open mind and was willing to interact with anyone who wanted to help in resolving the problems facing Kashmir.

Mr Singh will interact with CRPF personnel in Anantnag and is scheduled to chair a security review meeting here later in the day.

Al khalid never faced Milan 2T or Nag or even Konkours.It faced RPG from Baluchistan freedom fighters which exposed it venerablity and so called marde momin tankaya..

COLT Light Tactical Vehicle (4x4), India

The COLT Light Tactical Vehicle (LTV) is a 4x4 tactical vehicle developed and produced by Ashok Leyland Defence Systems in a strategic partnership with France-based Panhard General Defense.

The COLT LTV (4x4) was unveiled at Defence Expo India 2012 held in March 2012. It is the latest member in the COLT range of tactical vehicles.

The vehicle was developed to cater to various needs of the armed forces. More than 2,000 COLT tactical vehicles have been deployed by 15 countries across the globe.

The COLT LTV is suitable for high demanding protected missions. The versatile vehicle can be used as a patrol vehicle, escort vehicle and a command vehicle to meet the mission specific requirements of users.

COLT vehicle variants
"More than 2,000 COLT tactical vehicles have been deployed by 15 countries across the globe."
The COLT vehicle range includes three major variants: COLT Light Tactical Vehicle (4x4), COLT Airmobile and COLT Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV).

The COLT LTV is equipped with a four-speed automatic gear box and Euro-3 rated Inline Turbo Diesel engine.

The COLT Airmobile includes manual gear box and a turbo diesel engine. The Airmobile has a maximum speed of 100km/h and a range of 800km. It can carry a payload of 900kg.

The COLT LAV is installed with Euro3 rated Inline turbo diesel engine coupled to a six-speed automatic gear box. The LAV can cruise at a maximum speed of 100km/h to 105km/h. It has a range of 700km and can carry a maximum payload of 2,000kg.

COLT LTV design and self-protection
The advanced patented armoured hull of COLT LTV is based on a high performance chassis. The conventional vehicle layout houses engine in front, crew cab in the centre and troop compartment at rear. The crew can enter and exit the vehicle through a single door located either side of the vehicle. The rear door allows the rapid ingress and egress of troops in the rear section.

The COLT has an overall length of 4.28m, height of 2.13m, width of 1.97m and a ground clearance 0.27m. The unladen and laden weights of the vehicle are 4,400kg and 5,500kg respectively. The vehicle can carry payloads of up to 1,100kg.

The vehicle can be optionally fitted with equipment and systems, such as central tyre inflation system (CTIS), electric winch, roof hatch, antenna mount and a separate provision for weapon station.

The COLT LTV offers up to STANAG 4569 Level 2 ballistic protection and up to STANAG 4569 Level 2 mine / blast protection for occupants.

Light tactical vehicle engine
The 4x4 LTV is powered by an Inline turbo diesel engine coupled to a four speed automatic gear box. The engine is compliant with Euro3 emission standards. The design power-to-weight ratio of the LTV is more than 34hp/t.

Mobility of the 4x4 tactical vehicle
The COLT LTV is a right hand driven (RHD) vehicle with a gradient negotiation of 45°. It has a side slope stability angle of 300, which helps to maintain stability on uneven terrains. It has approach and departure angles of 76° and 55° respectively.

The LTV can cruise at a maximum speed of 120km/h. It can travel up to a maximum distance of 800km.

The COLT can ford water depths of up to 0.535m without any preparation. It is fitted with a coil spring with axle locating A-frame suspension to provide better grip and all-terrain smooth drive for its crew.

Varta to be replaced by Zaslon by Ukraine...Varta kills electronics... it's analog of shtora.... shtora isn't that much successful in Syria.....
A defence professional in DFI,Damian, says "TSzU-1-7 Shtora-1 and it's Ukrainian analog Varta are not modern soft kill active protection systems. These are effective onlyagainst older SACLOS guided ATGM's, modernATGM's with coded SACLOS guidance or with completely passiveguidance like Javelin or Spike are completely immune to them."
