The only Roosi jets we will see would be any follow-on orders for Su-30 MKI or PAK-FA/FGFA if and when it attains full operational deployment.

According to me, the MMRCA 2.0 will be a dogfight between Boeing's Super Hornet and Dassault Rafale.
This deal will certainly involve political considerations and we haven't seen anyone from Eurofighter countries who visited India to pitch their fighter jet. On the other hand, USA and France are openly promoting their product, although Rafale deal is mired in controversy, it will soon be forgotten by people. Also, people (congress) aren't against buying Rafale and if more Rafales are bought, then it won't be a big deal.

Dassault Rafale and perhaps with a more formalized and standardized template being developing to get a similar sukhoi 30 mki output by way of (something akin to) HAL making 270+ in India with full TOT. A template that can be utilized across the armed forces. the license production is still not ideal but if done with the right partners it can work for short to medium terms. medium to long-term we have to have indigenous systems in place and the tender must spell that out that will be the case and same will compliment.

Feel that any case the current 36 rafale will be used to be stop gap for the actual large tender being discussed and in view of the same. Like the initial delivery of the Sukhoi 30s to india bought off the shelf. do it properly and with the ability to repeat the same.

Speed and timescales are important ... perhaps what is more critical is the outsider(s) and certain individuals that want and would like pay-off and credit when they were secondary and are secondary in the scope of things. taking advantage of the situations for only self-interest not nation. what they dont understand is that it would have and will happen regardless and they are attaching themselves to the outcome of the same, not the other way around. The same can be seen by non-reluctance to deal with other nations - why not change if they can? The super hornet perhaps is more geared towards air-force and navy joint bid and perhaps linked to the engine and more advanced take-aways that are specific to pakis desolvation ...? we have to get good jet engine development and takeaways out of whatever occurs.

Why not SU35s … it's a good heavy weight fighter class with unmatched range, besides New F18s with canted fuel tanks would suit much better as a competitor in the final rounds.

Why I am again getting a feeling that MMRCA 2.0 is again one giant … FUBAR?

Why do we need so many types of aircraft? It is a logistical nightmare! Just order more Rafales to be the MMRCA. We have the SU 30MKI as heavy and the Tejas Mk1 and Mk1a in the light category. And aren't they all multi role combat aircraft?
The AMCA will hopefully one day be our 5-6th gen combat aircraft.

Tejas thread is not open so posting it here:

IR from BR has indicated that:
1. 2052 will be used for AESA radar on MK1A
2. External EW Pod: Dare integration is on going
3. Also some work being done by HAL towards weight reduction.

1. 2052: great progress made. Jaguar template to be adopted. Backend is anyways tested with 2032.
2. DARE: great progress made. In prototype build phase.

The Modi GOV is caught in the RG scam again. Congress leadership day after day is compromising Modi GOV ability to function. RG is trying to create a detour to redirect the attention from tax evasion case against his family, the Vadra deal, and several other scams under investigation. Paying for the product is a big issue. The IAF is used to the French planes, their performance, and the maintenance issues. It is my gut feeling that IAF will strongly favor, and promote Rafale over all others.

MiG-27 crashed on take-off at Jodhpur. Thankfully pilot managed to eject and is said to be safe

While politics goes on as usual to delay replacement

Russian jets r junks. While other nations r safely keeping these junks in storage, We r risking lives of our pilots.

Only 4 out of 28 Su-30s and MiG-29s in RMAF can fly

https://www.theonlinecitizen.com/20...-rmaf-can-fly-vs-100-f-15s-and-f-16s-in-rsaf/
Russian jets are suppossed to be unfinished workhorses... Considerable amount of work needs to be done on them regularly to take the most out of it. One one hand, where russians have mastered it which helps them create cheap fighters with high srrvice costs, every other country seems to have caught the wrong idea.

Because we had to take, what was available to us in the past and that was largely limited by global politics. But the decision to buy only 36 Rafales only added to the problem, while IAF wanted to reduce type numbers.

We must buy more rafale as we have already paid for one time cost such as software changes in active cancellation system and integration of other weapons etc. New rafale will come at much lower cost may be 1000 crore. This is a highly reliable plane which IAF would like to use even after 2 decades Like Mirage which is still favorite after 4 decades.

Su35 is good no doubt but we need better the SU35 , Russia should offer us more advance planes in su35 . we should split order into 2 parts SU35 advance & Either Raffles or F18 advance version .

Under make in India Govt should take fast decision & give order for 2 different types planes
