Its never about the real data or the real story.

We all know this, nothing can be done other than counter narratives which when done or even attempted at , we get stories like who Indians are "poorly informed" on geopolitical affairs or are argumentative etc..

"This side" can attempt such a style but will not be that impactful on an international scale due to difference in geopolitical/economic might.

The United States slapped on Thursday sanctions on over a dozen companies, individuals and vessels, including three from India, for facilitating illicit trade and UAV transfers on behalf of the Iranian military.

The US Department of Treasury said these companies, individuals and vessels have played a central role in facilitating and financing the clandestine sale of Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to Russia's war in Ukraine.

While Sahara Thunder has been identified as the main front company that oversees Iran's commercial activities in support of these efforts, the three India-based companies to have been slapped with sanctions for supporting Sahara Thunder are Zen Shipping, Port India Private Limited, and Sea Art Ship Management (OPC) Private Limited.

Iranian military entity Sahara Thunder relies on a vast shipping network involved in the sale and shipment of Iranian commodities on behalf of Iran's Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics (MODAFL) to multiple jurisdictions including the People's Republic of China (PRC), Russia, and Venezuela, the Treasury said.

"Sahara Thunder has entered into time-charter contracts with India-based Zen Shipping and Port India Private Limited for the Cook Islands-flagged vessel CHEM (IMO 9240914), which is managed and operated by UAE-based Safe Seas Ship Management FZE," it said.

"Sahara Thunder has used the CHEM to conduct multiple shipments of commodities since 2022. Iran-based Arsang Safe Trading Co. has provided ship management services in support of several Sahara Thunder-related shipments, including those by the CHEM," the Treasury said.

According to the Treasury, Iran-based Asia Marine Crown Agency has served as the port agent in Bandar Abbas, Iran supporting several Sahara Thunder shipments.

"India-based Sea Art Ship Management (OPC) Private Limited and UAE-based company Trans Gulf Agency LLC have worked together to provide ship management services in support of Sahara Thunder. The UAE and Iran-based Coral Trading EST. have purchased Iranian commodities from Sahara Thunder," it said.

"Iran's Ministry of Defence continues to destabilise the region and world with its support to Russia's war in Ukraine, unprecedented attack on Israel, and proliferation of UAVs and other dangerous military hardware to terrorist proxies," said Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian E. Nelson.

"The United States, in close coordination with our British and Canadian partners, will continue to use all means available to combat those who would finance Iran's destabilising activities," he said. -- PTI

Which i knew all along - the US animosity towards India, right from the day we became independent, is not because of hyooman rights/geopolitics/we sided with USSR or any such nonsense - those are symptoms of the cause, the cause is, we are direct competitor to the US in the long term.
As a democracy of 1.4 billion, slated to top out at around 1.5-1.6 billion. **IF** we become a first world nation in income, we directly displace the US in every field - from leader of the free world, to centre of innovation, excellence, capitalism & democracy. US would become to us, what UK is now to the US - a cheap knockoff second fiddle.
THIS is the main reason America tries to mess with india, from sponsoring anti-national break india forces, to causing social unrest, downplaying India, etc.

Our strategy, which the MEA has adopted, is that we will not get too close to the US, we will keep being on overtly friendly terms with them, we wont abandon Russia and we wont get too hostile to the Chinese.
Our rise is dependent on China and US dancing in a cold war, for if either one flat-out wins in the next 20 years, we are next on the chopping block, as the victor of US-China conflict will be the permanent ruler of the planet if India is also neutralised.
The one thing our MEA can do over the long term, along with help from our social media assets, is make sure US-China never actually patches up and keep their relations at a low boil, so when the time is right for us, we can force them to have a showdown, where we effectively make history repeat itself and take the position of America, who's dominant position came around exclusively from the fallout of WW1, with the British,French,German & Russian empires all exhausted/broken up and America taking the least hit of all the major players.

This may also be why we are not too close to taiwan, despite obvious short term benefits of courting taiwan from economic (chips) and political ( anti-China) perspective - because for India to emerge relatively unscathed in a potential US-China showdown, we must ensure two things - that the ground zero of their showdown is in east Asia (ie, taiwan) and that we are not too closely linked to taiwan to get sucked in the process.

The United States slapped on Thursday sanctions on over a dozen companies, individuals and vessels, including three from India, for facilitating illicit trade and UAV transfers on behalf of the Iranian military.

The US Department of Treasury said these companies, individuals and vessels have played a central role in facilitating and financing the clandestine sale of Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to Russia's war in Ukraine.

I think India is prepared for sanctions and a downturn in Indo US relations, and will not accept that RAW official was involved in the alleged assassination attempt.. even if "RAW official was involved", as this would permanently constrain any future Indian administration, as foreign governments can use this acceptance of extra territorial assassination attempt by India as a cudgel against it..

My personal opinion, is RAW wanted to be caught in the act.. This is 1998 Nuclear test redux.. Although the 1998 nuclear tests led to a lot of anti India sanctions.. it also created a lot of official exchanges at a very high level leading to the nuclear deal, and Indo US military cooperation to what it is today..

India cannot be a quasi ally of US, ready to bear the brunt of Chinese hostility, if US continues with its double dealing with anti India extremists as a form of leverage.. India probably did this to force a reckoning..
