It would be unwise to say we have limited understanding of F16. Google "Singapore F16 base in INDIA" or see this. Singapore's F16 are halted in Kalaikunda Air Force Station which is an Indian Air Force Base near Kharagpur, located in the Midnapore West district of the state of West Bengal and IAF regularly exercises with them, exchange of pilots and gears are usual phenomena. Because many of them are not marked as being from Shististan. They are routed via third countries such as Singapore/Dubai etc. So you may find labels such as "Packed in UAE", "Packed in Malaysia", "Packed in Singapore" etc.

The idea should be to include "Country of origin" on every product sold in India.

IMHO we should create an atmosphere that we would hit them at any time and keep our forces deployed and force porkis on their toes for an indefinite period of time. This will crumble them eventually. Their economy is on the verge of sinking, they are desperate for FDI, we should discourage and delay any inflow of dollars ( aka Saudi investment) to their economy by creating war like atmosphere.

Not sure if everyone realized Paki gameplan to force India to de-escalate!

- Firstly, Pakis spread the rumor that they downed TWO Indian jets; thus sending the world to think that India would retaliate massively to save face.
- Secondly, they intentionally spread rumors among all their urban people that they're gonna die!!
- Thridly, they shutdown power to entire cities (like Karachi) to somehow prove to its gullibe/dumb populace that army is attempting to save their lives. (Stupid to think that in the modern day, an aircraft (or a missile) equipped with GPS etc would miss a city because it went dark!!)
- Fourthly, they told all world leaders that India was launching ballistic missiles on their cities, thus forcing them to get 'involved'
- Lastly, to keep the hatred simmering among Paki people they convinced them that Israel too wanted to attack!

Essentially Paki army/ISI kinda of got what they wanted by an effective information warfare!

Excuse my ignorance on the subject of aviation, I might make some knee jerk statements. Why is everyone in India from babus to airforce so indecisive ? Why do we set unrealistic goals ? May be we don't have the technological prowess to make a great 4/4.5/5 gen fighter but surely we can scale down the expectations & build something solid in large numbers to overcome the superior technology of our foes. As the recent dog fight showed, training can also make a difference. And having more aircraft would come handy in case of a 2 front war.Countries smaller than India put faith in their indigenous technology, why are we always scouting for foreign stuff ? A fully indigenous 3rd gen fighter is far better than buying foreign toys. Atleast you can pursue an independent foreign policy and there is always that possibility of improvising on that 3rd generation fighter in successive iterations.

None of that would be relevant if we just kept the LOC hot & hitting them there. For example, maybe try & grab the chicken-neck HajiPir Pass, by blowing all the Porki posts there.

What's the point of spending so much in defence purchase or r&d, if we don't intend to use them?
We can achieve local air dominance, if we decided to shoot down anything within range of our SAMs & BVRs from our side.
