Forces in J&K on alert over ultras’ novel arms strategy
The Pioneer
5-6 minutes
While a tight security cover is in place in Jammu & Kashmir to prevent any untoward incident after the Centre’s move on Article 370, the security establishment is worried over a “new trend” of terrorists sneaking in from across the Line of Control (LoC) and leaving behind weapons ostensibly to be retrieved by terrorists active within the State.

One such incident took place in Uri earlier this week where the Army recovered some AK-47s after a firefight with militants who came in and then ran back towards Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK). Given the rugged terrain there, it is feared that many more weapons must have found their way to the users in the preceding days to bolster the depleting firepower of the militants.

Incidentally, the recovery of three AK-47s, three pistols and nearly 15 under barrel grenades took place a day after the Government announced its decision on Article 370 on Monday. At least three to four militants came in after the Pakistan Army gave them covering fire. An Indian army patrol had a brief firefight with the militants who escaped into POK leaving behind the weapons.

Admitting that the Army was lucky to foil the bid and recovered the weapons, officials in the security establishment on Saturday did not rule out the possibility of many more weapons already reaching the militants through the local network. They also said "on the face of it the recovery of only three AK-47s and three pistols may look small but the new trend is definitely is a cause of concern."

As nearly all the ingress routes in North Kashmir are located in rugged terrain dotted by ravines and dense jungles, covering each and every inch is difficult. Moreover, dense fog and cloudy weather provides excellent umbrella to the militants to either infiltrate or drop the weapons, officials said.

The new phenomenon also indicated that there is apparently a dearth of arms and ammunition for the militants in the Kashmir Valley, witnessing an unprecedented security clampdown in view of repeal of special status to State under Article 370.

Even though no infiltration bid or adopting the new tactic of leaving behind weapons to be retrieved by the local network came to light in the last few days, the Army is not leaving anything to chance. The counter-terrorism and counter-infiltration grid has been further strengthened.

Security forces brace up for action along the LOC and fear terror attack actively backed by the ISI and Pakistan Army in any part of the country in the aftermath of abrogation of article 370. This comes in the backdrop of the corps commanders of Pakistan Army discussing the issue on Tuesday last.

Faced with domestic pressure, the Pakistan Army is likely to go in for 'visible action' on the border in terms of ceasefire violations on the one hand and stoking terrorist violence in Jammu and Kashmir on the other. The possibility of such incidents taking place in other parts of the country was also feared, they said.

Chairing the Corps Commanders meet, Pakistan Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa had said his troops are prepared to "go to any extent" to help Kashmiris. The meeting had single point agenda of Kashmir. "Pakistan Army firmly stands by the Kashmiris in their just struggle to the very end. We are prepared and shall go to any extent to fulfill our obligations...," Bajwa told the army commanders.

In a statement, the Army said the forum fully supported the Pakistan Government's "rejection of Indian actions" regarding Kashmir. On Monday, Pakistan had condemned and rejected the Indian government revoking Article 370 of the Constitution and vowed to exercise "all possible options" to counter India's "illegal" and "unilateral" step.

Explaining the rationale for the all powerful Pakistan Army to resort to such strategy of turning the heat on the LOC, officials said here domestic compulsions will force it not to 'keep quiet' and the LOC may see relentless cease fire violations within the next few days.

Moreover, if the Pakistan Army does not do anything to stoke trouble in India, it may lose the support of the Pakistan based terrorist groups including the Jaish-e-Mohammad(JeM)and Lashkar-e-Tayyaba(LeT). These two groups are active in Jammu and Kashmir. Also, the ISI and Pakistan Army was already using social media to spread misinformation and the Indian security agencies were taking counter measures, they said.

Despite all the 'beefing up' happening on both sides, Pakis will hold off on major LOC offensive or major jiahdi executed fidayeen attacks in Kashmir till MID-OCTOBER - for the FATF meeting to conclude!

Irrespective of what happens in the October FATF meeting, one can expect Pakis to ramp up jihadi & army offensive after the FATF meeting concludes!!

Just my logical analysis!!

FATF will black list pakis for 6 months and ask them to work on a set of directives.. to get past it.
thats how the paki pigs are culled...FATF is a TOOL that can be effectively used against pakis so is IMF..

I have doubts that the blacklisting will go through.....given China, Turkey & Malaysia! Those three are enough to block the blacklisting.
In all probability they might remain in the gray list.....

If China is pissed that Pakis have blocked CPEC and wants to teach them a lesson, then it's possible that China might support the blacklisting.

October will be interesting....will be fun to see Pakis running around begging other countries to loosen the noose around their neck :)

If they wait till FATF in oct, i think the issue would have simmered down already for any direct action... Maybe Pakistani lobby and Indian leftist elites can influence international media to rake it up time and again. I wont be surprised if an Oliver, Minhaj, Noah or some other late night show comes out with a Kashmir story(not that it would have any affect). But all this will only redraw the status quo in peoples' mind and there will be quiet acceptance.

Even Grey list will block an IMF Loan.

This still doesn't say that IMF will STOP the loan tranche....but that FATF grey listing implementation will hamper taxation and banking....so it poses a 'risk' to IMF loan.

If I understand this right....she's saying that continued FATF greylisting will impact overall Paki financial system....in a way that Pakis may not be able to meet the IMF set benchmarks for continued loan disbursement. It doesn't appear like a direct cancellation of IMF loans if FATF greylisting continues....

Worth considering the fact that this time IMF has sounded the warning whistle for pakistan to accomplish FATF rulebook..
US also has stated that this time they want irreversible concrete actions on ground.. rather then passing laws nd rhetorics.. pak has avoided blacklisting earlier.. however this time if they fail to show bonafide action .. they will be blacklisted for good..
Watch this pak show .. it's genuinely analyse pak present predicament.. the road ahead for pak in fatf is very bumpy.. the chances of Pak saving themselves from blacklisting seems scant

Nothing is concrete. Fact is, if America gets a clean exit from AFG, IMF will happen. But, Yes, things are really bad for Pakistan right now. Trump might just say, Pak is too much of a Pain . Let us liberate Khyber-Pakhtunawa and control the Taliban.

That might actually finish off the Taliban also from their Pakistani sanctuaries. The Pathan protests could well be CIA-RAW joint Ops.

“We are two big countries, with very large militaries, with nuclear capability and a history of conflict, so I would not like to burden your imagination on that one,” he said. “But obviously if things get worse, things get worse.”

Pakistan sh*t can only boost themselves to show that they are superior Islamic strong and this was there believe in 1965 war but got ass kicked.
Sir based on the wisdom and experience of my entire professional career, I could guarantee the success of the operation“.

This is what Gen Musharraf said to his PM Nawaz Sharif in a meeting on 17th May 1999 in Ojhri Camp near Islamabad. The projected agenda of the meeting was to brief Sharif on the status of `upgraded Kashmiri struggle’ but the real agenda was to use this meeting as a proof of keeping the political leadership involved in the Kargil war – Operation KOH-e-PAIMA )Noticing the same, Musharraf asked if the operation will not turn into a disaster. Maj Gen Javed Hassan was quick to offer his neck, “If anything goes wrong, my neck is available.” His Commander, Lt. Gen Mahmud did not want to be left behind, said “Why yours? My neck will be on the line since I have cleared it.” And showing the General ship of the highest order, Musharraf said “No, it would not be your neck, it would be my neck.” ( US will not support Pakistan that much in the end if Pakistan will not obey them correctly he will get in black list so beggars cannot become choosers.

Cold Start doctrine begins, deep strike groups to be based in Jammu, Punjab and Rajasthan

The Indian Army's proposed shift of focus to regular field formations, trimming its involvement in non-core organizations, is aimed at giving its 'Cold Start' doctrine more teeth, enabling lightning strikes deep inside enemy territory, reports suggest. Though the proposal was made some time back, it has significance in view of developments in Jammu and Kashmir and deterioration of diplomatic relations with Pakistan.
