Jammu and Kashmir: Indian Army JCO killed by terrorists in Naushera sector; encounter underway
The JCO was killed after fired upon by terrorists in the Naushera sector, some 500m inside the LoC, Jammu and Kashmir.
Srinagar: A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) on the Indian Army succumbed to his injuries after being fired upon by terrorists at a post in the Naushera sector on Tuesday. The area was cordoned off by the Army and exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists is currently underway.
Earlier in the day, an encounter has broken out between the Indian security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Awantipora region. The security forces have launched a cordon and search operation in Awantipora after they received inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.
The killing of an Indian Army personnel has come a couple of days after Pakistan bombed Kashmir's Tangdhar area in which two security personnel and a civilian were killed. It was also reported that Pakistan was pushing terrorists into the Indian territory amid the attack.
Indian Army retaliated strongly to Pakistan's unprovoked attack and destroyed four terror launch pads inside Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Sunday. Over a dozen Pakistani Army soldiers were killed in the Indian attack.
