The terrorists opened fire around 5 am on posts of the 30 Rashtriya Rifles camp in Langate, which is in Handwara town in North Kashmir. “The terrorists fired indiscriminately on our sentry posts and on our jawans who were resting,” said commanding officer, Colonel Rajiv Sharang.
The terrorists were repelled by soldiers in heavy exchanges of fire. In a sign that the terrorists were prepared for a major attack, the army has found three AK 47 rifles, grenade launchers, a large quantity of ammunition, GPS, radio sets, maps and metric sheets along with food.
Officers also said three infiltration attempts were stopped at the Line of Control since last night.
The infiltration attempts, the army said, were assisted by Pakistani troops. In the past five days, there have been 25 ceasefire violations by Pakistan
