There is increasing discontent b/w civilian and mil leadership. I believe Nawaz will take advantage of what ever perceived Military weakness. Lets see if Nawaz kicks out Raheel on 29th or extends his tenure...
Nawaz Sharif will most likely pick a "safe" successor to Raheel Sharif. Multan Corps Commander Lt Gen Ishfaq Nadeem Ahmed is Nawaz's choice but senior to him is
Chief of General Staff, Lt Gen Zubair Hayat.

Now this fellow Gen Hayat if he becomes Chief being the senior most, it will be bad news for India as he's a known hawk and a supporter of terrorism as state policy. He's considered far more hardcore than Raheel Sharif himself!

Let's not kid ourselves and get into dhoti shiver about who's going to be the next army chief and which one will be a "badder news" for India. You do not climb high in TSPA unless you display a rabid anti-India stance. Heck, it's doubtful that the poor sod will even make it 2 days in the fauj if he's perceived to be soft on India.

Every TSPA jarnail has strived to bleed India and endeavour to do it more than his predecessors. That's the way they roll. Anything less and they run the risk of being halaaled by their subordinates or jihadis.

In extraordinary development, Pak's Nawaz Sharif govt orders Army to act against terrorists, Dawn reports
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...orists-Dawn-reports-/articleshow/54710436.cms.

NEW DELHI: In an extraordinary development, the Pakistan government, rattled by its global isolation following the Uri terror attack+ , has told its all-powerful army in no uncertain terms to take "visible action" against Jaish-e-Mohammad and other terrorist groups, Dawn newspaper reported today, citing high-level confidential sources.

Dawn reported that the civilian Nawaz Sharif+ government's officials openly confronted army officials - in what it called an "extraordinary exchange" - at a secret meeting on Tuesday.

Pakistan's foreign secretary Aizaz Chaudhry said at a presentation at the meeting that despite recent diplomatic outreach, Islamabad "faces diplomatic isolation+ and that the government's talking points have been met with indifference in major world capitals."

Following that presentation, the civilian government gave a clear message to the army - "Military-led intelligence agencies are not to interfere if law enforcement acts against militant groups that are banned or until now considered off-limits for civilian action... (and) fresh attempts be made to conclude the Pathankot investigation and restart the stalled Mumbai attacks-related trials in a Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court," Dawn wrote.

Further, foreign secretary Chaudhry reportedly shocked those at the meeting by saying that "while China has reiterated its support for Pakistan, it too has indicated a preference for a change in course by Pakistan."

Following the meeting, Pakistani spy agency ISI's director general Rizwan Akhtar and National Security Adviser Nasser Janjua, are set to travel to all four provinces, with the government's message for provincial apex committees and ISI sector commanders.

Dawn further reported that there was "an extraordinary verbal confrontation between (Pakistan's) Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and the (Pakistan spy agency) ISI," and that it appeared "to indicate a high-stakes new approach" by the Sharif government.

The Punjab CM's "stunning and unexpectedly bold intervention" occurred when he complained that whenever action has been taken against certain groups by civilian authorities, the security establishment has worked behind the scenes to set the arrested free.

"Astounded onlookers describe a stunned room that was immediately aware of the extraordinary, unprecedented nature of the exchange," Dawn wrote.

Dawn said that this secret meeting on Tuesday was chaired by Prime Minister Sharif and included senior cabinet and provincial officials. Pakistan's foreign secretary Chaudhry gave an exclusive presentation at this meeting. On the military side, Pakistan spy agency ISI's director general Rizwan Akhtar led the representatives.

On the US+ , Chaudhry reportedly said Pakistan's relations have deteriorated and will likely further deteriorate because of the American demand that action be taken against the Haqqani network.

In addition, Chaudhry said that Chinese authorities have conveyed their willingness to keep putting on technical hold a UN ban on Jaish-e-Mohammad leader Masood Azhar, but they have questioned the logic of doing so repeatedly.:pound::pound::pound:

Chinese dont have the balls to take a stand against ISI supported terrorists..So much for "RISING SUPER POWER"

Exclusive: Act against militants or face international isolation, civilians tell military

ISLAMABAD: In a blunt, orchestrated and unprecedented warning, the civilian government has informed the military leadership of a growing international isolation of Pakistan and sought consensus on several key actions by the state.

Wasnt the pakis saying they were not ISOLATED TILL 24 hours back!!!

As a result of the most recent meeting, an undisclosed one on the day of the All Parties’ Conference on Monday, at least two sets of actions have been agreed.

First, ISI DG Gen Rizwan Akhtar, accompanied by National Security Adviser Nasser Janjua, is to travel to each of the four provinces with a message for provincial apex committees and ISI sector commanders.

The message: military-led intelligence agencies are not to interfere if law enforcement acts against militant groups that are banned or until now considered off-limits for civilian action. Gen Akhtar’s inter-provincial tour has begun with a visit to Lahore.

Second, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed that fresh attempts be made to conclude the Pathankot investigation and restart the stalled Mumbai attacks-related trials in a Rawalpindi antiterrorism court.

Those decisions, taken after an extraordinary verbal confrontation between Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and the ISI DG, appear to indicate a high-stakes new approach by the PML-N government.

The following account is based on conversations with Dawn of individuals present in the crucial meetings this week.

All declined to speak on the record and none of the attributed statements were confirmed by the individuals mentioned.

Foreign secretary’s presentation
On Monday, on the day of the All Parties’ Conference, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry gave a separate, exclusive presentation in the Prime Minister’s Office to a small group of civil and military officials.

The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Sharif and included senior cabinet and provincial officials. On the military side, ISI DG Rizwan Akhtar led the representatives.

The presentation by the foreign secretary summarised the results of the recent diplomatic outreach by Pakistan, the crux being that Pakistan faces diplomatic isolation and that the government’s talking points have been met with indifference in major world capitals.

On the US, Mr Chaudhry said that relations have deteriorated and will likely further deteriorate because of the American demand that action be taken against the Haqqani network. On India, Mr Chaudhry stated that the completion of the Pathankot investigation and some visible action against Jaish-i-Mohammad were the principal demands.

Then, to a hushed but surprised room, Mr Chaudhry suggested that while China has reiterated its support for Pakistan, it too has indicated a preference for a change in course by Pakistan. Specifically, while Chinese authorities have conveyed their willingness to keep putting on technical hold a UN ban on Jaish-i-Mohammad leader Masood Azhar, they have questioned the logic of doing so repeatedly. :pound::pound:

Extraordinary exchange
The foreign secretary’s unexpectedly blunt conclusions triggered an astonishing and potentially ground-shifting exchange between the ISI DG and several civilian officials.

In response to Foreign Secretary Chaudhry’s conclusions, Gen Akhtar asked what steps could be taken to prevent the drift towards isolation. Mr Chaudhry’s reply was direct and emphatic: the principal international demands are for action against Masood Azhar and the Jaish-i-Mohmmad; Hafiz Saeed and the Lashkar-e-Taiba; and the Haqqani network.

Did pakis run out of AFGHAN weed... Seems like they just snapped out of their DENIAL in 24 Hours time.

To that, Gen Akhtar offered that the government should arrest whomever it deems necessary, though it is unclear whether he was referring to particular individuals or members of banned groups generally. At that point came the stunning and unexpectedly bold intervention by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

Addressing Gen Akhtar, the younger Sharif complained that whenever action has been taken against certain groups by civilian authorities, the security establishment has worked behind the scenes to set the arrested free. Astounded onlookers describe a stunned room that was immediately aware of the extraordinary, unprecedented nature of the exchange.

To defuse tensions, Prime Minister Sharif himself addressed Gen Akhtar and said that policies pursued in the past were state policies and as such they were the collective responsibility of the state and that the ISI DG was not being accused of complicity in present-day events.

PM’s strategy?
Several eyewitnesses to the incredible events of Monday believe that the foreign secretary’s presentation and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s intervention were orchestrated by the prime minister to stir the military to action, leading to the decision to dispatch the ISI DG on an inter-provincial tour.

Yet, according to the accounts shared with Dawn, the sparring between the ISI DG and civilian officials did not degenerate into acrimony.

Earlier in the meeting, ISI DG Gen Akhtar stated that not only is it the military’s policy to not distinguish between militant groups, but that the military is committed to that policy prevailing. The ISI chief did mention concerns about the timing of action against several groups, citing the need to not be seen as buckling to Indian pressure or abandoning the Kashmiri people.

Gen Akhtar also readily agreed to tour the provinces at the direction of the prime minister, issue fresh orders to ISI sector commanders and meet with provincial apex committees to chalk out specific actions that need to be taken in various provinces.

According to several government officials, Monday’s confrontation was part of a high-stakes gamble by Prime Minister Sharif to try and forestall further diplomatic pressure on Pakistan. In separate meetings with the army chief, participants describe an animated and energised Mr Sharif, who has argued that Pakistan faces real isolation if policy adjustments are not made.

Government officials, however, are divided about whether Prime Minister Sharif’s gamble will pay off. According to one official, commenting on the ISI DG’s commitments, “This is what we prayed to hear all our lives. Let’s see if it happens.”

Another government official offered: “Wait till November to see if action will be taken. By then a lot of things will be settled.”

Military officials declined to comment.

Pakistan isolated because it gives freedom to non-state actors, Aitzaz tells joint session

ISLAMABAD: PPP leader Aitzaz Ahsan addressing a joint session of parliament on Thursday said Pakistan is isolated because it gives freedom to non-state actors.

"The government has been completely unsuccessful in imposing restrictions on non-state actors according to the National Action Plan."

He implied that such actors continue carrying out protests, rallies and giving speeches in Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad and Karachi.

"I don't want instability in any country, as the blame of that will then fall on us because of these non-state actors.

Last week, after a cabinet meeting, a statement released quoted participants saying "we believe that Pakistan has no hand in the Uri attack", Aitzaz said.

"We believe ─ This is not a categorical denial... We don't know if our non-state actors are behind it."

"When you cannot completely implement NAP and then something like this happens, the blame will fall on Pakistan and we will be isolated. Then Bangladesh, Afghanistan will not speak to you and Bhutan and Nepal will begin supporting India," he said.

"You have isolated Pakistan," he said.

He held Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif responsible for Pakistan's diplomatic isolation.

"It used to be that India was alone but now Pakistan is isolated," Aitzaz said.

"If this is not a failure of our foreign ministry, then what is it?" he asked.

The senator said that because the prime minister himself is the foreign minister, Pakistan's isolation could be seen as Nawaz Sharif's personal failure.

"Nawaz Sharif did not anticipate the Uri attack. Our defence minister said that perhaps India did it themselves to divert attention away from Kashmir.

"I agree it is possible, but then why is it Pakistan, who is isolated now?:pound: It is because you have given freedom to non-state actors.":pound::pound:

Aitzaz called on the government to fight the India Waters Treaty case and present Pakistan's stance on Kashmir.

"We are with you," he said, reiterating the party's earlier stance of unity with the government on the Kashmir issue.

He slammed the focus on Punjab in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). "The impression that CPEC is the China Punjab Economic Corridor is not acceptable to us. The $46 billion CPEC investment is not more important than national unity," he said.:pound::pound:

Echoing PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's views on Panamagate, Aitzaz said that the party has presented a bill in Senate which would allow the PM to clear his and his family's name in the Panama Papers scandal.

I took a deep breath, cleared my mind and imagined what took place at the meeting:

Nawaz (raised voice in anger): Raheel, you mofo. You and your predecessors have ruined Pakistan by supporting these mental jihadis. Because of this our people are f**ked, our economy is double f**ked and most importantly we are isolated diplomatically.
Raheel (looking down, averting eyes): Sorry sir. I will personally see to it that we pull the plug immediately. We will stop funding, close all terror camps, and send all jihadis to the gallows as per our new execution policy.
:crying::crying::crying:

Here's what actually happened:

Raheel: You're my bitch, Nawaz
Nawaz: Yes sir. Are my legs spread enough sir?

Yawn. Next story please.

What a pathetic attempt by Dawn to project porkis have reformed.
This should be responded with more surgical strikes. Keep hitting till they even do half of what the fake news by Dawn quotes.
Indians should see through their cunning nature.

These people are always on survival mode.

When you slap them back first they deny, then they say "Asi hun naek hogaye haan" We are now reformed.

Next drama will be played out that Nawaj Shariff is a victim of Army dictation and their is traction between two Institutes (they have some urdu phrase for it Askari Kayadat aur blah blah).

Political leadership will blame Army to fake it to rest of the world when we know both all were involved in planning and plotting attacks on India including their diplomatic corps who presides over all the terrorism their nation perpetrates and they defend them with straight face at UNO.

Then army will unleash its hounds on internet to abuse Shariff calling him traitor.

Pretty much same script every time.

They did the same thing during Kargil and that scumbag even admitted he back stabbed ABV.

I will be now watching functional Liberaltards back home who will paddle Pakistani narrative to mislead India.
