Not necessarily. Xinjiang is getting terraformed big time with Chinese technology. By 2050 Xinjiang will be just as productive as India.

Why is China Pairing with Russia

Anybody’s guess, but there are a few apparent points. The current Chinese leader Xi wishes to end the Mao Tse Tung era enmity with Russia. This enmity lasted until 1991 when Soviet Union broke up. Concurrently US began to pump in $2 trillion FDI into China over 20 years. China’s manufacturing, exports and cashflow multiplied in bundles with that kind of aid.

Nobody dreamed ten years back that Russia and NATO/US will fight over Ukrainian and now they are fighting a shooting war. NATO and US have poured in combined about $100 to $125 billion in Ukraine war together with specialized technical aid to target vital Russian targets. Russia is alone and is searching for allies. China came front and Center. They offered, diplomatic, political and military support …….. yes in lieu of what?

1. They want Russian support in case China moves to grab Taiwan.

2. Russian military technology to modernize the Chinese military. The Chinese military relies on numbers not on technology. They want to redress that technology shortage. Moreover, Chinese have a lot of rockets and missiles but of mostly poor quality. Russian help will modernize that.

In return for a minor political support to Russia against their common enemy, the West, they intend to gain a lot. The Chinese will have access to most modern military technology.

Only a few days back, the Chinese defence minister, who rarely steps out into limelight was visiting Russia and personally met Putin and discussed things. China has mass produced drones of poor quality, very similar to Iranian drones which the Russian used in Ukraine successfully. They can supply them to make up the Russian deficiency. The Russians will be delighted. In return, what the Chinese Defence Minister get is extremely important to the rest of the world. The Chinese will become a high technology military super power.

That danger exists until the Ukraine war is over and the Russians refuse to part with high technology which the Chinese want. Then the Russians and Chinese are back to being unfriendly giants Of fifties and sixties.

Think it thru President Biden and NATO; ……… Do not let Xi and Putin shake hands permanently. If they do then $2 trillion FDI in China and all the trade advantages offered to China will be wasted.

I believe China + Russia > the US + Canada. Area is bigger and also has more people and also has more natural resources. China has a lot of iron ore.

Personally, I would be okay with China and India accepting the MacDonald line splitting Aksai Chin but I would not be in favor of China giving all of Aksai Chin to India. Chinese soldiers fought for it. Winners keep land.

Sino-Indian relations will not be normal in the coming future. This is only going to heat up and make both sides more determined. It's basically a sort of four-way match between the US, China, Russia and India. Russia is the only player that is focused completely on the US and is ignoring the other two while the US is trying to leverage one against the other - Democrats are pro-China while Republicans have a favourable disposition towards India, but both want us to fight each other off.

This cold war will only further heat up between China and India. Unless aliens invade and we have to set aside our differences to fight them off, nothing is changing.

China is seriously stepping up it's belligerence on the past decade. The rapid modernisation is not making anyone think otherwise either.

Seeing as how Russia is basically a pariah state right now, it's going to have a way more comfortable relationship with China and that's going to grow bigger.

On the US side, Democrats seems like they're torn on the topic, some seem to have a hard line against China while some want to deconflict the current tensions. On the republican side, you said it already, the only exception being Trump, he's just mentally insane at this point.


China will invade Taiwan the moment it believes it has overwhelming A2/AD capabilities in the Taiwan strait. Once that happens, they've got an excuse to plainly take more lands from us instead of salami slicing

Ok let me get this straight, you seriously skipped out on geography classes, haven't you? You scored low on geography haven't you? I can understand the hate, but not this much lmao

You are right, India has hot places, but it's not just hot. India is called a subcontinent for a reason. There's a whole lot of different climatic types in a single place. Now according to the Köppen system, India has six different climatic subtypes, which in the layman's terms, there's a desert region, there's a tundra and glacier region and a tropical rainforest region. Now even each region has a climate specific to it's own, so there's a microclimate for each region.

Well if we consider Northern India, because it's the region which has borders, it's a semi subtropical climate, so it's not that hot (except summers) and winters are really cold, with the exception that there's no snowfall. And if we consider the areas really close to the border, you can say it's a mountainous area with glaciers and heavy snow.


China has tropical climates and deserts, tropics down south and deserts in Inner Mongolia. If you want to generalise things you could say China's no different either, it's also a hot place.


Also,cold places make people cruel. Indian army has been deployed on the world's highest battlefield on a glacier for decades and conducted a conventional border war at high altitudes. Battles took place at altitudes of 17000ft above sea level. That's the altitude most private jets fly at. You get deployed there for years, not as a 6 month tour of duty. Yeah we're really really good at mountain warfare and we have done it successfully too. What made you think we're not cruel as well?
