Btw.. China also claims to be oldest surviving civilization. Past glory is basically great set of motivation to follow.
Actually the guy made a decent example about Vietnam. Also Bangladesh is also growing as a manufacturing based economy. The only problem with Bangladesh it is over populated shi*hole.
Indian economy needs a serious kick start. This slow de coupling with China has both challenges & opportunity. Need a road map to make things happen in the country's economy.

The 'claim' is not a claim by India. It's a conclusion reached by UN after conducting a study.
It's not just 'past glory'. That does injustice to our past. It's glorious centuries upon centuries of our civilisation. We have a lot of knowledge-bank to refer to for creating our own systems.
Only when we follow an indigenous system to take care of the diverse but homogeneous citizens of our country, can we be an example for others.

This was my (very old) prediction regarding China. I never foresaw the whole Coronavirus issue and blowback obviously, but the way China began behaving openly in such an arrogant and abrasive manner, steadily alienating and opposing the whole word, not to mention some of the things they'd done in the past like invading Tibet - had me convinced that they were jumping up and down way too much prematurely, and the world would eventually get sick of their shit and pull the rug from beneath their feet - before they ever truly achieved their full potential and became a threat to US's #1 position.
