Scorpene data leak does not include details of weapon system: Parrikar -

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Friday said the leak of secret data on the combat capability of the Scorpene-class submarines is not a big worry since the leak does not include details of weapon system, adding the Indian Navy has been asked to address the areas of concern.
Addressing a press conference here, Parrikar said one must not worry about this episode, adding the Centre will very soon put things in order.
“We are going by assumption of the worst case scenario. Have told them (Indian Navy) based on inputs to find out the areas of concern and take appropriate steps to address it,” said Parrikar.
“There are few pockets of concerns. We’ll be able to put things into perspective,” said Parrikar.
“Our submarine has so far not done the sea trials therefore, the most important signature doesn’t form part of the documents,” he added.
According to reports, the French Government yesterday said documents relating to Indian submarines were stolen from French naval contractor DCNS and not leaked.
India and France have opened investigations after The Australian newspaper published the news on Wednesday.
‘The Australian’ newspaper uploaded information on its website relating to information about operating instructions of underwater warfare system of the six Scorpene submarines, which are being built in India by French firm DCNS.

Looks like defence minister is taking right steps at right time and will handle the situation in proper way .
But he also said there are some points of concern ..................

“His newspaper can post all the leaked documents online if India feels they pose no threat”, Australian Journalist -

If they (India) claim there is no damage, then maybe we should now put all 22,400 confidential documents on the net,” Stewart told IANS.

Its his job man. Lets not blame him for the stupidity of DCNS.
No , this is not his job .
His job is only to tell people what is happening in this world . Not to threaten the security of any country .
He is a only a media person , he should remain in his limits .

Forking over exocet killcodes to the British during Falklands war

From what I know of Kargil it was the Israelis that supplied us LGBs when the US imposed a weapons embargo on both sides.

The only thing that connects France to Kargil is Mirage 2000s which were hailed for dropping LGBs on the infiltrators,LGBs supplied by the Israelis, not the French.

Can't find any source corroborating that.
Most sources are saying that the LGBs dropped in Kargil were dumb bombs modified to act as LGBs with the help of Israeli strap on kits and guided by Israeli LITENING pods

Where did you get this information from ?

Indeed! During Kargil when Navy started manoeuvring fearing escalation of war (due to Pakis unwillingness to vacate the Kargil posts despite having given the levity by us), the French Navy had responded by stationing Charles de Gaulle battle group to maintain what they called tranquillity at sea. Need it elaborated.

If anyone helped during Kargil, it was time tested Isreal.

Pakistan, China ‘keen to get hands on leaked subs documents’

By Greg Bearup

Pakistani and Chinese spy agencies would be doing all they could to get their hands on
leaked documents that reveal the capabilities of India’s new submarine fleet, according
to two former high-ranking Pakistani generals. That was if they didn’t already have the documents, they said.

Former Pakistani army chief Jehangir Karamat said Australia should be “concerned”
about using the same French firm, DCNS, to manufacture its subs.

The report in the The Australian this week about a 22,000-page leak containing the
specifications of a French- designed sub destined for the Indian Navy has been the lead
story on Indian television and on the front pages of its newspapers.

“India assesses vulnerability of Scorpene submarines after a leak of secret data,’’ said the
headline on the Hindustan Times, while The Hindu led with a story about the sloppy
handling of the highly sensitive documents by DCNS: “Not a tight ship, submarine
project leaked like a sieve.”

Indian politicians and defence officials are fuming and are hunting the source of the leak
while trying to assess the damage.

“The French-designed subs are so advanced, so silent under water that they are extremely
difficult, if not impossible to detect,” said a report on English-language news channel
NDTV. “But according to The Australian, the leak of the 22,000 pages has technical
specifications that would make detection possible.”

General Karamat told The Australian the leakwas“mind-boggling’’. “I can understand Australia’s concern (that the same company is building its subs),’’ said General Karamat, who was previously Pakistan’s ambassador to the US. “I guess it’s too early to say anything but the report does mention that China and
Pakistan would be interested. Indeed, anyone involved in counter measures would be
most interested.’’

Retired general Talat Masood, who also served as secretary for defence production in
Pakistan’s Defence Ministry, told The Australian the leak was extremely embarrassing
to India and France: “The point here is that definitely Pakistan would be interested

to India and France: “The point here is that definitely Pakistan would be interested
because India has been expanding its naval fleet and it would very much like to know
what are the capabilities of the submarine … this document, to a large extent, would
reveal that.”

He said subs were vitally importance in the region. “The Chinese are building the
corridor, and so on, and also the Indians want to expand their influence on the seas and
the US has been supportive of that,” he said.

New Scorpene India document published along with the above two stories with, as on the last occasion, parts redacted — inked, by the newspaper as too sensitive:

1) https://theaustralianatnewscorpau.files.wordpress.com/2016/08/system-and-operating-data.pdf.
It has the ‘System Technical Manual’ for underwater warfare sub-system — various sonars — distributed array, active array, etc, & ‘Operational Instruction Manual’ for combat management system

Most do, Mirage 2000, no weapons, no targeting pod, which was fixed with help of DRDO and Israeli help..
Do remember how France did not supply weapons to Argentina as contracted during Falkland Wars?
And how the French bent over the pressure from USA for Mistral to russia and then bent over? We all do remember most ... which part did you forget?

Also we do remember how it is going to cost 51 million per plane for upgrade of Mirage 2000 and that too without new engine, just replacement of some old avionics. and doppler Radar., and just about 73 millioin for brand new Rafale along with AESA radar ... Something is not right.

Indeed..... remember Kargil !
