It seems Heli hit the tree straight without any technical issues.

looks like Heli wasn’t trying to land so a technical issue unlikely. But speed was low as a precaution.

what about sensors like terrain collusion device? Vision device? And aviators usually wear by pilots surely decrease visibility further.

It looks like IAF pilots need to spend more time on simulator/training rather than on Carrom board. Tri-service inquiry surely brings some light about IAF operational procedures.
That makes it even worse. Something really needs to change at the IAF's training schools .There have been too many cases of pilot mistakes in recent years.
I have been abused for saying this by a veteran here, so better delete it.

Surely operational procedures being overlooked. IAF had shot its own helicopter after Balakot strikes and now we loose our CDS. Abhinandan dropping in POK regardless of the fact that he shot F16 was a setback for India.
Seems a bit lackadaisical on IAF part.

Essentially, three types of on-board mission avionics are reqd for ensuring flight-safety when flying in bad weather/low visibility conditions over mountainous terrain:

Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS)

Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS)

Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) Beacon

For those helicopters designated for VVIP transport, the above 3 avionics are MANDATORY, but it remains to be seen if any of them were installed on-board such Mi-17V-5s

Late CDS Mr. Rawat was national asset not a private property of Armed forces. We have right to demand fair inquiry and also have right to give opinion as information of tragic incident emerges.

Ferrying national assets is job of IAF if things like this happens questions will be asked and what about other officers who died with CDS? We are asking because we stand with them.

We are not blaming anyone but hitting a tree straight is something hard to swallow by a shocked nation.
