We are building our own of 1200 kw power. Lat us look at the feasibility weather we can come up with within due time or not. if development a takes longer time thatn the projected time to induct the chopper, it is better to impor or collaborate with some good company to make it in India.Let's build our own engine or we will keep importing for foreseeable future.
7 years is more than enough time ---- we need to have a breakthrough on our own if we want to be fully self sufficient in long run --- period --- same goes for jet engine --- can't keep importing for ever --- collaborations are usually screw driving & core technology being foreign nothing else.We are building our own of 1200 kw power. How many delivered? All these are different types of pension plans. That is all.Logical step.
That 930 million USD deal for 6 AH-64E Apache really bugged me.
155 million USD for an attack helicopter, thats ridiculous and day light robbery.(That deal should be cancelled right away and relooked)
This also shows how indian aviation industry has matured.
10-15 years ago we had only 2 or 3 important aviation projects.
today we have
1. Tejas mk1a,mk2
2. TEDBF/ORCA
3. AMCA
4. RTA-70 and RTA-90 and SARAS
5. HAL LUH
6. HAL IMRH
7. DRDO AURA
8. DRDO Rustom.
This decade will solidify indian aviation industry. What we now need is a WORKING JET ENGINE.

I'm not comparing their capabilities. I'm asking whether we are in process or completed the development of the advanced tech that are there on Apache, using LCH as platform.
No matter it is smaller in size or limited in capabilities. What all advanced tech that we missing at the moment?
I understand both are different platform of different categories. .
Like with LCA, we are yet to develop our own Refueling probe, Ejection seat, Engine, etc.
Thing is we don't necessarily have to make everything ourselves. Importing a bit here a bit there is alright as long as we hold IP for major subsystems.Engine and the FCR are the two biggest hurdles. The rest is doable.
Just seeking additional information on "now fast tracked". Are they working on an engine for 10-12ton?Thing is we don't necessarily have to make everything ourselves. Importing a bit here a bit there is alright as long as we hold IP for major subsystems.
Engine, transmission we can derive/downsize from the 12ton IMRH (now fast tracked). If they can manage that, then it is set for success.
LCH already has .50 armour protection, may get increased for upto 20-30mm.
FCR cum BMR may be derived from the longbow (just a hunch).
SANT, SAAW based glide bomb can be available in 5 years.
That leaves the structural redesigning.
Avionics and sensors may get replaced with indigeneous versions in LCH itself, one by one as they mature (we ain't great at it right now).
Two engines......................................Just seeking additional information on "now fast tracked". Are they working on an engine for 10-12ton?
Got on BRF. A HAL source said that work on it has "picked up pace" recently after dillydallying (first flight originally scheduled in 2020) for years. Also this from Feb 28Just seeking additional information on "now fast tracked". Are they working on an engine for 10-12ton?
No need of celebration as of now. First they have to create MMRH. Based on that a 10 to 12 ton MCH would be built. MMRH is easily atleast more then a decade away. So no need to talk on MCH as of now. HAL should have thought about it by 2010 itself along with LCH. Then by 2025 we might have seen one flying around.

This is for Singapore which is getting a new batch of 16 CH-47F (plus rebuild of existing 22 CH-47SD fleet to F standard) and 33 H225M for their military. All our existing IAF Chinooks and Apaches birds already have these same systems installed (can be seen in photos) and our system of procurement being as it is, our own media will leak / drop hints about contracts long before any vendor has a chance to publish such news (that too without mentioning customer).Oi, bhailog this Asian country is our country, according to me.Israel's Elbit Systems gets $103 million electronic warfare contract By Reuters
