So the engine exhaust air is spread by the rotor to reduce infrared signal. The exhausts will be pointed upwards like Apache, etc.

My guess as well. Some other helis that use the same design. So the engine exhaust air is spread by the rotor to reduce infrared signal.
Not only that , AFAIK some sort of cooling takes place before the air leaves the exhaust. A foreign company was involved with HAL and DRDO to develop the same.So the engine exhaust air is spread by the rotor to reduce infrared signal.
Bdw rudra is in supporting role where as hal lch will be in front line role
Good watch and great to see an Indian journo getting excited for an Indian product not orgasming over foreign imports!
Like I’ve said above and (once again) confirmed- HAL has commenced production of LCH even without firm orders from MOD so they will be able to deliver airframes almost immediately once IA/IAF get off their lazy backsides.
Really isn’t acceptable anymore that this nonsense is still going on. Remember when the services used to blame HAL for everything? HAL has clearly woken up to this and is doing everything they can to avoid such criticism. As I long suspected the services were the problem all along. This product is ready to go but they are busy arguing over the Apache which costs 4-5x more PER AIRCRAFT.
I’m sure they’ll come up with some excuse like “no ATGM” when they’ve hadn’t years to pick a foreign one whilst DRDO (nothing to do with HAL) develops HELINA/SANT and have been utterly inept at even doing that. As HAL says they can integrate any weapon the services seek but if the services can’t even pick how is this HAL’s fault?
Besides, neither the IA nor IAF had a problem inducting the Rudra without an operational ATGM- both have dozens of these beasts in service as we speak.
I’m now waiting for the excuse thar they won’t order LCH until the HAL-DRDO MMW radar is ready for it.
India will never create a globally competitive military industrial complex with traitors and buffoons like these in the armed forces. No county with a robust MIC doesn’t have a supportive local military as their primary customer that drafts requirements, tests and supports and orders in large quantities.
Left to the armed forces India will be importing even shoelaces in 2050.
Is the total figure of Rs.5500crores correct?. 83 LCA alone will cost tens of thousands of crores. At 450 crores per Mk1A as quoted by HAL the total comes toA mega-deal for the purchase of Akash surface to air missiles and 83 light combat aircraft has been cleared by the Union Cabinet.
New Delhi: The Union Cabinet has cleared a mega Rs 5500 crore deal for Akash Surface to Air Missile and 83 light combat aircraft. According to sources, contract for 15 light combat helicopters is also likely to be signed this year. Moreover, in what is likely to simplify the procurement of weapons, the Centre is expected to roll out a new defence procurement policy by March 2020.

Title is misleading, 83 LCA Mk-1A will be signed by year end. This 5500 crore figure is for Akash SAM. Which version of Akash this order aims to acquire also hasn't been mentioned. Is the total figure of Rs.5500crores correct?. 83 LCA alone will cost tens of thousands of crores. 83 * 450 =Rs. 37,350crores.
Probably one zero is missing in the figure quoted in the article.
Yes, sometimes our desi journalists publish articles without cross checking.Title is misleading, 83 LCA Mk-1A will be signed by year end. This 5500 crore figure is for Akash SAM. Which version of Akash this order aims to acquire also hasn't been mentioned.
Most probably akash 1s.....Title is misleading, 83 LCA Mk-1A will be signed by year end. This 5500 crore figure is for Akash SAM. Which version of Akash this order aims to acquire also hasn't been mentioned.
Rudra Also has infrared suppressor..................,.........<>
DRDO new Tech to make HAL LCH stealthy
Due to their low-attitude and relatively low-speed fight profiles, helicopters are subjected to serious threats from radio, infrared (IR), visual, and aural detection and tracking. Among these threats, infrared detection and tracking are regarded as more crucial for the survivability of helicopters. In order to meet the requirements of infrared stealth, several different types of infrared suppressor (IRS) for helicopters have been developed.

LCH infrared signature will get reduced now ....
btw ... Apache already have these devices
I don't getvit how is this supposed to materialise.
Generally pvt companies buy tech & production from EU countries....... i dont see any R&D here.........I don't getvit how is this supposed to materialise.
Has VEM already made the prototype of these missile?
OR do they have the capability to make this missile?
Or do they have the capability to make this missile using DRDO help?
Since no private company has ventured into making missiles and stuff so can't say what is the process.
Does the Gov assign certain Budget to make the prototype.
Or do they straight up give orders on missiles that has prototype made out of Comapnies own pocket.
VEM technologies net worth is some $120 million.
The entire NAG projects costs some $40 million
Assuming if this ULKA projects costs some $10 million, it would still be a large amount of money for R&D.
They are already partnering with DRDO on projects. Sensors, guidance systems and the like.I don't getvit how is this supposed to materialise.
