China will not be a threat to the American Empire, but it will conquer the latter. The Chinese method will continue to sustain economic and trade pressure on the Americans, to a point where the Americans are either forced to respond militarily or to shut off completely from the web of the Chinese supplier/industrial ecosystem.
One thing is assured and that is a zero chance military confrontation between the two.
Using proxies is a Russian and Anglo-Saxon strategy where they use military prowess and their MICs to use other political pawns. If you see the kind of countries China has been cultivating, it is largely internalized. These countries are just too weak to do anything "for China", but they are just capable of supplying them with raw materials in the long run.
This is what makes the Chinese far more dangerous - they use Time as their weapon and hollow out the enemy without fighting.
