I agree our examination system is the problem. It only checks how much you have you memorized and how quickly you can write.
What is your definition of quality colleges? It is the responsibility of student to learn.
The person why people refer good colleges is for the studious and focused company of like minded students and not for the infrastructure. Modern infrastructure is economical enough that everyone can afford the same (even students).
No student is bad they just need to be motivated and focused on the task.
Purpose of college and university is education and training mind not placement. If your goal has shifted from education to employment opportunity then one has lost the essence of education institute.
College teaches you little, the lecturers vomit out stuff that can be read in the text book with no explanation of concepts. When students get no guidance and are unable to understand the subject, they are forced to memorize . From memorizing the derivation of equation to memorizing computer programs and so many more absurdities. The best part ? Many technologies taught are obsolete and when the course content is updated , they simply shuffle subjects between semesters.
When you do badly in exams the profs tell the students , diD yOu noT rEaD pRevioUs YeAr quEsTion PaPeR.
Anyone who goes to an engineering college "for knowledge" is a fool. However it is a path to a good job and a path to prosperity.
There are smart students who see through the bullshit early and learn from the internet , but then what was the point of going to college. TO get that piece of paper that allows you to sit for interviews ofcourse.
Never blame the student or their attitude towards learning. They simply adapt to the environment that they are in.
