The US will purchase some ex Luftwaffe Alfa jet for dog fight training.
It's a small plane, without FBW, but very agile. A good Alfa jet pilot can beat a Rafale during dog fight. It will be interesting for US pilots.

$34B for 478 F-35s

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.ft.com/content/ca6e8106-fa45-11e9-98fd-4d6c20050229

That's $71M F-35 on average! That's definitely below $80M and the F-35 is not even on full-blown production yet!
When someone buys a jet they most of the time consider what is the life time cost of that particular equipment.

Germans found lifetime cost of F-35 to high to maintain that's why they didn't bought it.

But F-35 being a single engine can become a cheaper jet in future.

The German Air Force wanted F-35. The German politicians on the other hand want Eurofighter for political and business reasons (not military). The German Air Force Chief was even sacked when he publicly voiced preference for the F-35.

If military considerations alone are at play, then the F-35 trounches all current Western competition. There is simply no present Western answer to F-35, which is only set to get more lethal and economical with capability upgrades.

I'm disappointed. Why not Su57 ? A better plane I think.
Because they'll have to carry the bulk of the costs going into the production lines.
Russians are waiting for someone to get into the trap and fund their production costs..

Can Myanmar carry the bulk of the production cost? It is likely the
First export customer of SU-57.

F35 took first flight in 2006.
Total produced -440
Su57 took first flight in 2010.
Total produced- 10
If it is a stealth aircraft with great capabilities and cheap to produce and maintain, why didn't Russia buy it in large numbers?

US Department of Defense has agreed a USD34 billon deal with Lockheed Martin for the production and delivery of 478 F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter aircraft. The agreement includes the 291 US, 127 international partner and 60 Foreign Military Sales aircraft in lots 12, 13, 14. These orders comprise 351 convenional take-off and landing (CTOL) variant F-35As, 86 short take-off and vertical landing (STOVL) F-35Bs, and 41 carrier variant F-35 Cs. As noted by the Joint Program Office (JPO) and Lockheed MArtin, this block buy brings the cost of the F-35A down from in excess of USD250 million in Lot 1 to USD77.9 million in Lot 14.
