Fu Bingfeng, executive vice President and secretary General of China Automobile Association, stressed that in 2021, China's automobile exports exceeded 2 million for the first time, breaking the situation of hovering around 1 million for many years. China's automobile globalization has entered a new stage and presented four highlights:
First, the export of Chinese brand cars has achieved rapid growth. Data show that in 2021, 9 of the TOP 10 Chinese auto brands have achieved rapid growth, with 4 of them growing by more than 100%.
Second, passenger cars and commercial vehicles have achieved rapid export growth. Among them, the growth rate of passenger vehicles reached 1.1 times, and SUVs dominated, indicating that Chinese brand SUVs have international competitive advantages. Commercial vehicle exports are up 70 per cent;
Third, the export of new energy vehicles exploded. In 2021, the export of new energy vehicles reached 310,000 units, a threefold increase year-on-year, surpassing the total export volume of the past few years. Among them, Europe has become the main incremental market for the export of new energy vehicles, and China's export of new energy vehicles to Belgium, France and other automotive developed countries reflects a certain competitive advantage;
Fourth, Breakthroughs have been made in the overseas development of Chinese brands. Saic, Geely and other projects to build factories in overseas accelerated and directly took root overseas, laying a solid foundation for the future overseas development of Chinese brands.
"The global economy is recovering, auto consumption is recovering; Advantages gained by Chinese auto brands in the transformation of new energy vehicles; Europe and the United States have increased the promotion of new energy vehicles and other factors, as China's auto export growth new momentum." Fu bingfeng said. China auto Industry Association forecast that China's auto exports will usher in a period of rapid growth, with auto exports expected to increase by about 22% in 2022.
