Nothing of quality is cheap, but it's probably cheaper than fighter jets isn't it? Can probably be produced + inducted much sooner too. And last of all - unlike buying foreign fighters, at least with Brahmos the money is spent on a (semi) domestic product.But Brahmos is an expensive missile.

This presentation was made by Dr G Reddy himself. It's April 2019.Even SANT will have a variant of this same seeker.
These are the various seekers which are currently under r&d
A .RF seekers
1. Ku Band - Astra, QRSAM, AKASH-1S
2.X - SLCM, NASM
3.W - SANT, PRALAY, NGARM, RUDRA-M
4.Ka - Project AD
B. IIR seekers
1.NAG = 384x288 MWIR Gear Drive
2.HELINA = 384x288 MWIR Direct Drive
3. MPATGM = 120 micro-meter MWIR Direct drive
4.BMD = 128x128 LWIR
I reckon a higher resolution strapdown LWIR is also under developement for AD-2 KKV.640x512 resolution Seeker for HELINA is also under development.
"While the earlier version of the missile has a strike range of about eight km, the upgraded variant with infrared imaging seeker can cover at least double he distance. One more trial of the missile has been planned on Tuesday. A series of successful tests would pave the way for its induction and serial production," a defence official told The Express.
Sant has a range of 20 km...when lunched from fixed wing aircraft s..... tested twice..from uavsThis article by Hemant Kumar Rout mentions the presence of an imaging infrared seeker on SANT.
I believe SANT will come in two seeker versions . A w band imaging RF and an IIR seeker. I assume SANT will have a one way datalink for Lock on After launch.
SANT has a range of 16-20 km when launched by ALH Mk4 or LCH.
So the range will be much higher when launched from fixed wing aircrafts.
