Now DRDO wants to double the range of MRSAM to 150 km from 70 km, on its own without involving IAI, similar to Barack 8 ER. Not sure, this is the same thing as VLSRSAM.

Also can someone confirm Akask NG is the same thing as Akash mk2?

It's not clear if DRDO is copying concept of Barak8ER to develop 250km range XRSAM or it's just an Israeli import labeled as DRDO Product.

Few years ago there was also some reports of Ashwin SAM for a anti-aircraft and cruise missile defence role, with a range of 150 -200 Km which was based on AAD missile (from BMD programme). Wonder what happened to that.
Also what is the current range of India's longest range Swordfish LRTR? Is it 600 km, 800 km, 1500 km or more?

Similar to Qr-Sam?
No , QRSAM is different

Eg QRSAM is not vertically launched , hence there is no need to have a exhaust management system integral to the cannister round. In QRSAM the exhaust gas is simply vented out through the other end of the canister.

In VL-SRSAM , the missile is vertically launched and is omni directional . The launcher need not be trained in the direction of the target as in QRSAM. The exhaust gas released during hot launch is managed by an integral exhaust management system built into the canister itself.

QRSAM launching system is not optimal for naval application.
VL-SRSAM is tailor made for naval application for use as a point defence system like Barak-1 thanks to VLS and hot launch mechanics.

Naval version of VL-SRSAM will have 8 cells instead of 4.

Also I have line drawings of what looks like to be a VSHORAD or CCM. But won't post it . The missile has a ogive nose cone and clean body with no fins on fore and middle section . The rear section was cut out so no idea on the fins on the rear section. The missile is sleek and aerodynamically clean in the front and middle section ( rear section no idea since it was cut out ) . I am guessing it will have TVC for aerodynamic control.
