The lessons of Ukraine war, Gaza war, and Houthis drone war is that we must order :

1. Long range strike drones.
2. Guided Pinaka
3. Prahar and Pralay
4. Cheap long range recce drones like Orlan 30
5. Huge number of Indigenous PGMs &
6. Long Range artillery, ATAGS

But focus of import lobby:-

a. Imported submarines
b. More Rafales
C. Transport aircraft
d. Imported Artillery
E. Costly Predators, Israeli UAVs
f. Stryker AFVs
g. South Korean light tanks in garb of JV

etc
i think prahaar can be done with when we introduce 150km and 300km range guided rockets i think but we should develop a 300km range version of either the pralay or prahaar for export purposes
and we need 155mm pgm i think we still import those for m777

We need a 5th Gen FA since we're not sure how the Rafales would fare against the J-20. F-35s are not on the menu not only for the strings attached but also due to the fact that it's still WiP.

Our armed forces have burnt their fingers many a times with this approach - the latest being the MKIs & the MiG-29K.

One can make the argument about the Su-57 not being capable of going up against the J-20s too, but it's a generation ahead of the Rafale .

The IAF must extensively evaluate it before any decision is taken.
Past trends have shown that the Russians don't possess the quality of electronics and manufacturing available with the West. I highly doubt that the Su-57 is superior to the Rafale in terms of electronics, and network centric warfare

Till the moment you would keep the notion that it is duty of forces to support local industries, you would always be in dark.
Some day when on battlefield forces will suffer for logistics then they will realise whose responsibility is to support indigenisation.

-REMOVED-

Check the DOP of this 125 mm APFSDS. A whopping 550 mm.

This tender was released in 2018. Must be for a small batch of the new 125 mm round for test and trial purposes.

This was released very recently.

Note the End use. IMI 125 mm APFSDS / DoP 550..

The one released in 2018 was v1. Then many revisions have taken place depending on test results. This is the 3rd such revision.

Now, based upon these tenders, two things are likely. Firstly, we have purchased a few thousand of this Israeli APFSDS and have received ToT for producing the rest here at HAPP. ARDE has been roped in to increase the percentage of indigenisation and hence the obturator. Secondly, we have purchased a few thousand rounds from IMI under emergency p clause. Now, we are reverse engineering the same through DRDO ADRE.

Here is the specs of the 3BM42 Mango now being made by HAPP under ToT from Russia.

The penetration figures are 460 mm at 2000 m at 0 deg or 230 mm at 60 d for a 260 BHN RHA steel

The 3BM44M Lekalo has a penetration 270mm @ 2000m at 60° against standard 260BHN Steel Target. Or 540 mm at 0 deg. This makes the ARDE/IMI round superior to Lekalo.

ARDE's inhouse 125 FSAPDS is this.

It has a penetration of 500 mm at 2000 m for 0 deg.

The implications of the new in dev 125 mm round with 550 DOP is that the aan ban Shan of Paki armoured corps, ie Al Haider is toast. Its max LOS based armour thickness doesn't exceed 550 mm at any place in the frontal turret including gun turret. This figure doesn't include FY4 ERA. It's performance level is similar to K5
