Means for trials only. AAM get momentum speed of aircraft for initial acceleration.

So I meant to ask, what are they testing in booster? Booster is not an integral part of SFDR. ( Atleast this monstrous booster)
What if aircraft launched ramjet missile during subsonic speed and low altitude ?
All ramjet missile uses booster[to my knowledge] and meteor also uses booster. Integral or another stage depends on tech/missile req.

Ramjets cannot generate thrust when stationary.
They need to be propelled into motion for them to start generating thrust, this is fine when an aircraft is hammering down the horizon at supersonic speeds but when it comes to ground launches, it needs something to propel it to supersonic speeds so that the combustion can start, this is when a booster is needed.

India Tests SFDR Technology Critical For Development Of Long Range Air-To-Air Missiles

1649427783308.png

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has tested its Solid Fueled Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) technology with a demonstration flight earlier today (8 April), Livefist has reported.
The development of SFDR technology will enable India to make its own long-range air-to-air missile, which could mirror the capabilities of the best missiles in this class, like MBDA’s Meteor, which the Indian Air Force uses on its Rafale jets.

Booster will be an integrated part of BVRAAM. Booster is needed as not all flight profile of the aircraft carring BVRAAM is capable to ignite or sustain ramcombustor.
Meteor BVRAAM comes with an integrated booster.
The propulsion sub-system is a throttleable ducted rocket with an integrated nozzleless booster, designed and manufactured by Bayern-Chemie.

The solid propellant nozzleless booster is integrated within the ramcombustor and accelerates the missile to a velocity where the throttleable ducted rocket can take over.

Russia’s NPO Mashinostroyenia, which formed a joint venture with India’s gov't-run [DRDO]...is responsible for providing the missile system’s engines and seekers.

So the 70% indigenous content doesn't include ramjet engine & seeker ?

As far as I know seeker has been indigenized engine don't know
But point is nothing will stop us to buy brahmos related parts even sanctions we have our mechanism for it
But but but if situation is too worse then I think we can manufacture most of the parts but don't know about ramjet engine

No. As per the JV agreement, engine & seeker would be Russian. Even if we are able to make one, which we already did with seeker & LFRJ coming next, Brahmos as whole would use Russian engine. The seeker would also be Russian, although we have few specialised seeker. But it would not be there in export version.
