Much more efficient than most of the kerosene based fuel used in Indian aviation, it's easier on the engine too. Plus dependence on JET fuel reduces (imported by India mostly) so that's always good news.

Spice Jet or jet airways flew a plane with bio fuel . It already works. Problem is it costs higher than your traditional fuel so no one is buying it in a mostly profit oriented industry

Who knows? As I said it puts less load on engine, so maybe to get more flight hours out of our planes. And the whole reason it costs that high is due to limited production. If IAF orders it in high numbers, cost can go down, maybe it will encourage our civil aviation industry to take it up too then which might further drive down costs.

This biofuel has been in testing phase with IAF for last 3+ years. This rigorous testing is not possible with civilian sector. So testing a military aircraft with biofuel is of importance before using it on commercial scale for civilian use.

India has not operated any civilian flight on bio-fuel till date: Centre - ET EnergyWorld

At present, the price of biofuels is higher than that of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) due to very limited production.

Ya'll Nibbiars Scale of production is not large when it's commercialized then the cost would be equivalent to the Jet Fuel.

Which will not just bring down per hour operating cost , but save the bucks spent on imports +a commodity for export

Ya'll Nibbiars In India the cost of bio Fuel in of the lowest thanks to the low cost sugar mills. They need large number of employees to operate anywhere in the world and in India the operations cost archiver the the world average. And due to this we can even produce bio fule at low cost when the world fuel cost is low. And this is possible if we invest enough in the bio fuel productions.

Well, based on this twitter, the Chinese words "飞行实验" means "flying experiment".

If it is a simulated wind tunnel test, they won't add "flying" in the front.
It is more likely a tech demonstrator only for the purpose of testing certain part of design.
