Arjun Mark II looked swanky.

Loved the TATA 6x6. I think TATA should go to Dakar and try to beat KamAZ.
It should be a platform for Indian versions of Pantsyr S2U, Tor M2U and ESM/ECM suits.

Every time he opens his mouth I am expecting another epic fail. I don't know if it is intentional or not but he seems unable to contain himself from saying silly things and he also is very very inconsistent, his public statements almost never align with one another. One day he will say X then the next day say X is not true. It's so stupid.

A few weeks back he said the money was there for the Rafale, now he is saying money is an issue. On moment he says the Paki JIT won't be allowed onto military bases, then he says that it is the NIA's crime scene and they can allow whomever they want to into the base.
It's about time India incorporated the 'spokesperson culture' into our government. We can't have union ministers giving statements, especially ministers who are handling portfolios as sensitive as defense. First, any person in this position knows too much sensitive information and there is a liability of an accidental leak, secondly, the fact that he is personally giving live interviews itself is a leak in itself which reveals a lot of information to trained foreign intelligence agencies. For example, if a foreign agency has done something sneaky but the defense minister's facial expressions exudes happiness while giving live interviews, they will know that he has no inkling of what's going on. They also know his physical location, since the program is live. They could use this lax window to perpetrate hostile acts. A defense minister must always stay in his den and keep the enemies guessing about what he is up to, instead of constantly being in the media glare. He should appoint a professional spokesman to give out statements on his behalf and all his statements should be carefully crafted and approved by our establishment to make sure they espouse the voice of the nation in letter and spirit. Earlier I gave him the benefit of doubt by assuming that he is a victim of a hostile media but now I have no doubt that the current defense minister desperately needs a spokesperson.

That RCWS is FAR too bulky and will present a
larger silhouette.
Right.

I like the gun on T90S. Compact and elegant.

Compare that with our's

Our designers haven't modified the gun at all, they have mechanically mounted an existing gun on a swivel pivot with remote control. So the gun seems bulky. They need to customize the design and operation of the gun itself, to streamline its application and condense its form factor. They've simply put together modular systems with all the flab, like a game of Lego, instead of tweaking the module to cut flab to suit their new application.

Look how the Russians have radically redesigned their turret from scratch to have a circular drum magazine to fit the application.

This is the 57mm RCWS cannon module from their IFV. They didn't simply do a copy-paste from existing turret systems.

Its not T 90 just a fanboy art but RCWS is based on real T 90MS.

Also turret protection on Mk 2 is far superior than T 90 series.

No fanboy art sirjee, the same is consistently visible in their production version tanks (newer T90 MS not T90). They have redesigned the gun such that the bullets rest deep in the belly and the bullet feeder module is separate from the gun barrel, so whenever you swivel the barrel, the entire assembly need not move along with it. Just the barrel moves but the bullets remain in place. This makes the barrel light weight and agile. Check this CAD design :

Check their live firing demo

For a compact gun you need confirmed orders, Ask the army to commit for 500 plus arjun as it is now in mk2 version, This will lead stability to R&D expense, production line, vendor investments & the gun can be replaced in time,

There is no Army in the whole world which fooled its own govt , like the indian army did, is doing & will continue to do on Arjun front!!!

Willfully sabotaging the program with unending user changes, while buying 1000s of desert unworthy T-90s which even Russian army hasnt bought in large numbers.

The present Defence minister is talking far less according to me. It was his plain talk of "I have a SU-30 MKI +tejas alternative as Plan B for MMRCA" did the trick on IAF , which immediately agreed to TEjas mk1A.

Hope he sees the schemes behind FICV tender "wild goose chase " by IA and gives a statement like , " I have a plan B for FICV, buy 500 Arjuns". Then IA wont care which gun is on Arjun!!!

All the guns on IA's other MBTs are no space age weapons either!!!

Russian radically redesigned turret is not meant for 4 men crew demand by IA , on the line of western armies, which basically lead to Arjun size & weight, along with safe ammo canister compartment.

It's a defense expo where various countries are showcasing their own products. If Armata is better than other tanks so should we bar other tanks from participating? if a country introduces a supersonic jet then should we remove all non-supersonic aircraft families like helicopters?

Agree.

There is a problem of economy of scale and maybe also of corruption. Let's hope Parrikar crushes the unholy nexus of defense contractors and IA/IAF stooges.

Seriously, stop this $hit Parikar "I don't set timelines"?? Really???
No need to set a time line for a superfluous requirement, with FGFA coming around , a second production line for tejas, along with a proposal to build another private sector production line for fighters, We can afford to wait for ever for rafale, to get a correct price & terms.

Arjun as it is now can run into any western army with 1000s of confirmed orders.

See ,the carrot of confirmed order of 100 tejas mk1 A put HAL into overdrive with ASEA radar, refueling probe, quartz radome etc, etc,
production orgs have to justify the money spent on production line & continued innovation with concrete orders,
