World Nuclear Association lists 35 operating Chinese nuclear power plants for 2016.

In October 2016, the Fuqing 3 One-Gigawatt domestically-designed CPR-1000 nuclear power plant became operational.

China's Fuqing 6 nuclear reactor has a "boron injection tank" as a super safety feature.

China's Fuqing 6 nuclear reactor is currently under construction. The "boron injection tank" was recently installed.

If the control rods cannot be inserted into the reactor for whatever reason, there is a liquid 20-tonne boric acid solution to halt the nuclear reaction by absorbing neutrons. This is a very clever idea. In essence, the boric acid solution serves the function of a back-up control-rod system to stop nuclear fission.

Chinese nuclear reactors are extremely safe due to redundant safety features.
