Unfortunately, spot on. Other than Gujaratis, no one is as deeply invested or hold the same deep connections. I speak of a substantial population if not a majority for whom the above is true, exceptions are not the rule.
As for comparisons with the Jewish population, not technically a diaspora or even Pakistanis, it is best to remember that their diaspora is not comprised of people who have given up citizenship. The Indian diaspora has , it’s we who have allowed them a free run with all this OCI nonsense where we welcome immediately a person who has just thrown away his or her Indian citizenship. We don’t place a premium on Indian citizenship, why should they then care. At the minimum, there should be a 10 year gap between someone getting an OCI or equivalent from the time they have surrendered their Indian citizenship. Personally, I have little respect for the giving of the OCI card or indeed its very name which I think is a con job on India pushed by the bureaucrats and the politicians whose children have all gone abroad.
IMO, no bureaucrat or army officers should be appointed to high positions if their children live abroad, let alone be foreign citizens. As said about Ceasar’s wife, they must all be above suspicion. We can’t have people in charge of improving our lot if their own children seek greener pastures elsewhere.
