Well as per my knowledge, Russians are ready to buy products from Russia-India JVs.
I don't know where your 'knowledge' comes from. The purpose of forming the BrahMos JV is clear - to develop an India-specific version of an existing Russian system. Most such JVs with Russia are in this style.

Even the BrahMos-II will be a derivative of the Russian 3M22 Zircon hypersonic missile that has already been test-fired. The FGFA too will be an India-specific development of the existing PAK-FA.

Only real JV project that aims to create a new product from the ground-up for both countries is the MRTA, which isn't getting anywhere. But that's another topic.

The modernization of Russian forces has increased immediate needs so they may take Indian production.
Ah, well assume whatever you want. Just keep in mind that Russia is not an import-happy country like us and they wouldn't let a penny go out of the country for purposes that they are very well capable of fulfilling themselves. Money goes from their left hand into their right hand. That's called a military-industrial complex (MIC).

LOL!

Leave it, you wouldn't understand.

Anyway, I already said "ah, well assume whatever you want".
Your arguments are silly. You are hell bent on proving something you do not know.

When did you ever say anything that was proven right!

India did only license production in the past. The value addition was not there. Now Russians are learning from Indian developments. Times have changed.

Russia and India will start research and development works on the hypersonic version of BrahMos missile approximately in 2022. A prototype of the BrahMos hypersonic missile is expected to be manufactured in 2024, Marketing Director of the Russian-Indian BrahMos Aerospace Company Praveen Pathak was quoted as saying by TASS on Thursday. "This will be another missile with a speed of about 6 Mach," Pathak said at the KADEX 2016 arms exhibition in Astana in Kazakhstan. According to Pathak, the speed of the existing BrahMos supersonic missile is planned to be increased to 4 Mach within the coming three-four years. As Pathak said, a preliminary design of the missile is currently being worked out. Russia and India are simultaneously considering various designs of the future missile. “This stage will take "at least five-six years." R&D work is expected to start approximately in 2022 and the first prototype of the missile is planned to be manufactured two years later, he said. Pathak said that the future missile was expected to have the same weight and size as the existing BrahMos missile so that it can be used with the same platforms and launchers. "Developers cannot tell the project’s total cost yet. This will be known when the preliminary design is worked out and a decision on the missile’s configuration is made," the marketing director said. According to him, the missile’s price will be mostly determined by the materials that will be used for its production. The company said earlier that the hypersonic version of the BrahMos missile could be developed within five-ten years and its speed would exceed 7 Mach.

India, Russia Agree On BrahMos Missile Export To Third Countries

India and Russia have agreed 'in principle' to export BrahMos anti- ship cruise missile to third countries - the UAE, Vietnam, South Africa and Chile, Praveen Pathak, spokesman for BrahMos Aerospace, told TASS on Friday. "The several structural changes were made in the defense exports policy and these were yielding results. As far as the BrahMos missile is concerned, talks with countries like UAE, Chile, South Africa and Vietnam are in advanced stages," he said. Pathak said a deal with UAE is expected to be signed by the year end, as both India and Russia have good relations with the country. "Since Russia is the partner country in the BrahMos joint venture with its consent discussions with several other countries, including Philippines, South Korea, Algeria, Greece, Malaysia, Thailand, Egypt, Singapore, Venezuela and Bulgaria have now been taken to the next level," he said. "In the case of Vietnam, China has expressed its reservations against India's policies to supply weapons. In the South China Sea, China and Vietnam are locked in a conflict over maritime boundaries. We expect that those friendly nations with whom neither India nor Russia have any conflict would be keen on buying these missiles," he added.

I am pretty sure that the range of Brahmos has already been increased after India joining MTCR. It is just a matter of time to make this an official announcement. But the export version of Brahmos will be capped at 290km only. So can we practically expect atleast 50% increase in range to the current 290km of Indin Brahmos?

Unofficial range of the Brahmos is well over 500km for quite some time. I wouldn't expect much in terms of announcements. With the SFC already receiving dedicated nuke delivery MKI since 2015 and the impeding test of the Brahmos from the MKI, N-Brahmos will become the primary air delivered nuke article.

India plans expanded export of BrahMos cruise missiles

After starting sales negotiations with Vietnam, India now plans to export its indigenously manufactured BrahMos medium-range anti-ship cruise missiles to at least 11 other countries, Indian officials and industry sources said.

Negotiations with Hanoi to supply the BrahMos, which features a 292 km strike range, were at an advanced stage, with Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar discussing the potential sale of the supersonic missile with his Vietnamese counterpart, General Ngo Xuan Lich, on 5 June.

The talks in Hanoi included the option of stationing a team of Indian technicians in the Southeast Asian country to offer the Vietnamese assistance in using the system. The transfer of the BrahMos could take place 'shortly', official sources in New Delhi said.

Moreover, India's Ministry of Defence (MoD) is believed to have instructed BrahMos Aerospace - a joint venture (JV) between India and Russia - to increase production to meet potential orders from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand.

Sudir Kumar Mishra, chief executive officer of the JV, said in April that India's 'Look East' policy is a key factor in supporting potential sales in the region. The 'Look East' approach has continued since the 1990s and is intended to develop economic and strategic relations in Southeast Asia to counter China's influence in the region.

Industry sources said Argentina, Bulgaria, Brazil, Chile, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates are among the states that have expressed interest in acquiring the world's fastest cruise missile capable of being fired from warships and land-based mobile launchers. India also plans to test-fire the cruise missile from a submarine and a Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter.

Moreover, in a bid to support such international sales, Mishra revealed that BrahMos Aerospace has secured agreements from major submarine designers in "Germany, Spain, France, and Russia" to supply submarine design and specification data to the company so that it can integrate the missile onto their platforms.

Army to get steep-dive BrahMos missile regiment for China front

NEW DELHI: The NDA government has given the final go-ahead for the Army to induct and deploy an advanced version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, with "trajectory manoeuvre and steep-dive capabilities" for mountain warfare, in the northeast as a conventional deterrent against China+ .

Sources said the Cabinet Committee on Security, chaired by PM Narendra Modi, cleared this fourth BrahMos+ regiment at a cost of over Rs 4,300 crore. The regiment consists of around 100 missiles, five mobile autonomous launchers on 12x12 heavy-duty trucks and a mobile command post, among other hardware and software.

The 290-km range BrahMos is a tactical or non-nuclear missile with "nine times more kinetic energy than sub-sonic missiles" for greater destructive potential. Jointly developed with Russia, it has become the preferred precision-strike weapon for the Indian armed forces.

From 2007 onwards, the Army has progressively inducted three regiments of BrahMos with largely Block-I and II missiles developed to hit a specific small target with a low radar cross-section in a cluttered environment, as earlier reported by TOI.

The missile's Block-III "steep-dive" version will now be deployed in Arunachal Pradesh to counter China's huge build of military infrastructure all along the 4,057-km Line of Actual Control. Flying at a velocity almost three times the speed of sound at Mach 2.8, the missiles also have "a combined high-low trajectory" to evade enemy defence systems.

"This BrahMos variant can take a steep dive up to 75 degrees. Defence scientists are already working on achieving a 90-degree steep-dive capability, which in the future can lead to acquiring an aircraft carrier-killing capability," said a source.
The latest Rs 4,300 crore contract takes the overall orders placed for the BrahMos missiles to over Rs 31,000 crore. The Navy has already installed the missile on 10 frontline warships, including the latest stealth destroyers and frigates.

BrahMos chief Sudhir Mishra had earlier told TOI that the plan was to begin testing the missile from Sukhoi-30MKI+ fighter jets this year. The air-launched version of BrahMos, which at 2.5 tonnes is lighter than the 3-tonne land and sea variants, has already undergone "carriage trials" on a Sukhoi in June. The "missile separation trials" are likely to take place later this month.

The Research and Production Association of Machine-Building is involved in the development of BrahMos cruise missiles jointly with the Indian side.
"If positive results of the work with the technologically operational missile are received, there are plans to carry out demonstration launches of two organic missiles against a sea and a ground target," CEO of the Research and Production Association of Machine-Building Alexander Leonov said.
In late June, a modified Su-30MKI fighter jet performed its first experimental flight with a BrahMos missile demonstrator, he added.
According to Leonov, a flight with a mock-up equipped with a system of sensors confirmed the calculated data and the results of tests on scaled models in a wind tunnel.

"After fulfilling the program of flights to get operational performance readings, the so-called emergency release of the mock-up is planned to get data on the dynamics of the missile’s safe separation from the aircraft," Leonov said.
Spokesman for the Russian-Indian joint venture BrahMos Aerospace Praveen Pathak earlier told Russian daily Izvestia that the possibility of the missile’s separation from an aircraft would be checked in August. In his estimate, the first launch of a missile from a Su-30MKI may take place in autumn.
India plans to arm three regiments of Su-30MKI fighter jets with BrahMos missiles. For this purpose, the missile has been improved: the airborne version is 500 kilograms lighter and almost half a meter shorter. BrahMos missiles are already operational with the Indian Army and Navy.

BrahMos aircraft drop test next month

Nagpur: In one more step towards gaining ability to fire BrahMos missile from an aircraft, there are plans to hold a drop test from Su-30 this month. The missiles are made by BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited — a joint venture company between Russia and India. With headquarters at Hyderabad, the company also has a unit near Nagpur.
"Recently, test flights were conducted with a Su-30 fighter fitted with a missile launching platform. The idea was to assess if there was any change in the aerodynamics or stability of the aircraft after it flew with the launch pad," said Major General Achyut Deo, general manager of BrahMos's Nagpur unit. The test was successful.

"As a next step, a drop test will be conducted this month. This means a dummy missile will be fixed on the launch pad and dropped from the aircraft. This will be done to assess the impact on the aircraft once a 2.5-tonne missile is dropped. A real missile takes off after it is dropped from an aircraft. Here, a dummy will be used just to assess the impact of the drop," said Deo.

If successful, the forces will also be able to fire BrahMos which has a range of 290 kms from the air. "Recently, a steep dive test of the missile was conducted and it proved successful. The missile landed within a range of 10 meters of the targeted area," he said.

BrahMos Aerospace is also working on a smaller version of the missile. "Termed Mini BrahMos, it will be half the weight of the present missile but with more speed. The size will also be reduced," Deo said. "This is a part of an independent research by the company to explore if a missile with smaller size can be as effective too. The cost of production will also come down considerably with the size," Deo added.

Sukhoi-Brahmos combo is just eight months away

India plans to raise three squadrons of Sukhoi-30 fighters equipped with Brahmos missiles by next April.

New Delhi: In about eight months, a deadly combat platform-the Russian-made supersonic Sukhoi fighter (Su-MKI 30) aircraft integrated with the lethal Brahmos missile-is expected will join the join the ranks of the Indian Air Force (IAF).

“There are plans to deploy fighter squadrons of the Sukhoi aircraft with the integrated heavyweight Brahmos missile within the first four months of 2017,” a top defence source told this newspaper on condition of anonymity, adding that outmost priority is being accorded to move things at a much faster pace.
India plans to raise three squadrons of Sukhoi-30 fighters equipped with Brahmos missiles.

“By December 2016, two key and final tests where the Brahmos air variant will be fired from the Su-MKI 30 to a sea-borne and a land-based target will be completed. These tests will be conducted jointly by India and Russia. After that we will integrate the

Brahmos-Su MKI 30 platform and make them ready for deliveries,” the official said. Explaining the distinctive features of the air variant, the source elaborated: “The air variant of the Brahmos is different in the sense that it is about 500 kg lighter in weight, a little shorter, it will have tail fins to aid the free-fall and then a differently-shaped nosecap so as to have as less air resistance as possible."

The missile, fitted in the Sukhoi-30 fuselage, will be released from the aircraft first. Once it drops clear of the aircraft, the missile’s booster engine will ignite, propelling the weapon towards its target.

What makes the combination lethal is that the stealth-capable Sukhoi-30 which flies at a speed 2.8 times more than that of sound, will carry the Brahmos which is remarkable for the kinetic energy it generates due to its very high speed, heavy payload, low flight range with variety of flight trajectories, and a low radar signature for a stealthy approach.

On June 25, Indian scientists created history by flying the Brahmos for 58 minutes (45 minutes in-flight) with a Sukhoi 30 at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Nashik. According to sources, the jet-missile combo could also become a very lucrative export for India.

Arming The Rival's Enemy: Why Modi’s Visit To Vietnam Might Irk China

Modi’s Visit To Vietnam will be the first bilateral visit to the country by an Indian Prime Minister since 2001
New Delhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Vietnam, the first by an Indian head of government in the last 15 years, is being seen as India's attempt to counter China's influence in South East Asia. In contrast to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's visit to the country in 2001, this visit will primarily focus on defense export and maritime partnership, sources said.

It is expected that India will offer a range of military equipment to Vietnam including the BrahMos missile and Varunastra anti-submarine torpedo. Vietnam had earlier expressed interest in the naval version of the BrahMos. While, India expects to open the window for the sale of the first homegrown heavyweight anti-submarine torpedo Varunastra. India had earlier announced a credit line of USD100 million during President Pranab Mukherjee's visit to Vietnam for procurement of off-shore patrol boats.

Experts see this visit as a counterstroke to China's policy of arming India's rival Pakistan for decades. Bharat Karnad, former member of India's National Security Council and security analyst, told Sputnik, "India should not only equip Vietnam with the Brahmos supersonic cruise missile but also transfer to Hanoi the 700 km Agni-1 medium-range ballistic missile; but suitably disguised as falling within the MTCR-mandated 300 km range restrictions. China has already done its worst. It is time for India to reciprocate amply in equal measure."

The roadmap for the upcoming high level visit was prepared by both countries during 8th Foreign Office Consultations and Strategic Dialogue meeting held in New Delhi on August 2, 2016. According to India's Ministry of External Affairs, "At the 8th Foreign Office Consultations meeting the two sides held deliberations on an entire gamut of bilateral relations, including the forthcoming high level visits. During the Strategic Dialogue meeting, both sides discussed ruling of United Nations' tribunal ruling on South China Sea."

Karnad says, "The tragedy is that the Indian government has taken so long to realize the strategic value of responding to China in kind as a tit-for-tat measure against its nuclear missile arming Pakistan. I have long argued that if India lacks the stomach for a fight with China, as seems to be the case, then India's national interest is best served by arming to the hilt Vietnam, the only country that despite comprehensive disparity with China, has repeatedly shown the guts and the gumption to take on the Chinese military."

Meawnwhile, India's space agency ISRO is already working towards the establishment of a Satellite Tracking & Data Reception Station and Data Processing Facility in Vietnam for ASEAN member countries. This station will cover the entire region of ASEAN including the South China Sea. During Modi's visit, it is also expected that both countries will agree to upgrade all the military equipment like the T-54, T-55 and helicopters.

DROP TRIALS of BRAHMOS Missile From Sukhoi-30 in Pokhran From Aug 24

JODHPUR: Drop trials for the formidable supersonic cruise missile system BrahMos from Su-30 MKI aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) are slated from August 24-26 at the Pokhran firing range in Jaisalmer. These drop trials will pave way for the real fire of BrahMos from the Russian made Su-30 by November last week or December first week. In fact, drop trials shall be conducted against land target and a sea target by the month end.

Dr Sudhir Kumar Mishra CEO and MD, BrahMos Aerospace while speaking to TOI said that the drop trials for the air version of BrahMos would be carried with a Mass Dimensional Dummy missile which means that it will be similar to the real missile in terms of weight etc, but would not have any engine and explosives.

"Under rare circumstances due to factors like range requirement or weather, the land trials may also be conducted at Integrated Test Range at Chandipur off the Odisha coast," said the BrahMos chief adding that these drop trials will check the release mechanism of the launcher in addition to assessing the clearance from the aircraft after the fire.

It was on June 25 that BrahMos Aerospace successfully demonstrated the integration flight of the supersonic cruise missile BrahMos on Su30MKI frontline strike fighter of the IAF at HAL Nasik. Success of drop trials would give a major fillip to the BrahMos air-launched flight test program.
"And with that happening, the BrahMos air version programme would further inch closer towards actual test firing when a 2.5-ton BrahMos air-toground missile will be fired from the Sukhoi-30 in November or December," said Dr Mishra

BrahMos and Indian Air Force
While the first squadron of IAF equipped with BrahMos is expected to be operational by April 2017 ambitious plans are in pipeline for raising three squadrons of BrahMos. IAF would become the elite air force in the world to be in possession of a supersonic cruise missile on a long range aircraft, the powerful missile will enable the IAF penetrate deep inside the enemy territory to deliver a deadly blow to their vital installations from sta to their vital installations from stand-off ranges. The integration brings a paradigm shift in the capability of the IAF vis-a-vis its adversaries. The Su-30-BrahMos combination will carry out air combat operations within and beyond visibility range and will provide the IAF with the capability of attacking targets protected by powerful air defence assets. Air version of BrahMos is 500 kgs lighter than its army and naval versions and has tail fins and other required aerodynamic features.

BrahMos and Army
The Indian Army which has already inducted three regiments of BrahMos in its arsenal has now got a nod for the fourth regiment to be equipped with steep dive BrahMos along Indo-China border in the North East. So far, all army regiments are equipped with Block-III version of missile, which was recently tested on May 8 and 9 in 2015. The land-attack version of BrahMos has been operationalised in the Indian Army since 2007. The BrahMos has the capability to take on surface-based targets by flying a combined hi-lo trajectory, thus evading enemy air defence systems. Inclusion of the powerful weapon system in Indian Army has given it a distinct operational advantage to knock down any enemy target even in the most difficult and hidden terrains.
