i personally think that Brahmos has to go more then 300KM, Since it cannot, therefore only option is to increase its speed or accurracy or both, Brahmos corporation is working on both, still their is limit what can be achive by this joint corporation by Russia and India.

For the future Brahmos range has to be increase by hook or crook, only then future versions will be inducted in large numbers, since the MTCR at present cap such missile therefore PJ 10 under brahmos corporation is not good idea, DRDO has to come up with its own version of Brahmos.

other option should be to have platform like ship, subs, fighters and other carriers which can carry brahmos close to target and then launch it.

but in long run it is better to go for home grown version, Akash missile is ideal platform to go for this kind of missile.
Saya Sir,

I don't think it will be feasible to have a long range hypersonic missile as it will be too big, too heavy, too complex and too expensive.

What India needs is a cheap, subsonic, terrain hugging, low flying, accurate, small, lethal, long ranged CM ie something like Tomahawk which can be fired by the dozens supplemented by Brahmos. Brahmos will be be used in area denial role aka ensure that an area (on land or water) 300km in radius is denied to the enemy.

New Delhi (PTI): Even as the IAF is grappling with its first Sukhoi mishap, India has decided to hold talks with Russia to fit BrahMos cruise missile on to the Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft.

"The mishap will have no impact on our plans to equip the BrahMos on the Su-30 MKI. We are holding talks with Russians at the end of this month to discuss installation of BrahMos launcher on the heavy air superiority fighter," a Defence Ministry source told PTI here.

"The work is expected to be completed on the aircraft by early 2010 but we have not set any deadline yet for competing the programme," an official said.

The aerial version of the BrahMos will be nine metres long and once fitted, can auto-launch itself towards the target after being released from the aircraft by the pilot.

After being fitted on an aircraft, BrahMos will be the only cruise missile with the capability of being launched from land, sea and air.

Sir long range hypersonic missiles can take down S 300/400 and Chines versions of S300 missiles (HQ 9) which was sold to pakistan, before cheap cruise missile are attack, for the sole reason their is no known defence for the supersonic cruise missile.

Brahmos has caused great headacke to US since it has no known defence at present, just imagine what will long range brahmos will do........... specially to long range SAM and ABM sites.........

Plans on to fit BrahMos missile on Su-30MKI aircraft

New Delhi (PTI): Even as the IAF is grappling with its first Sukhoi mishap, India has decided to hold talks with Russia to fit BrahMos cruise missile on to the Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft.

"The mishap will have no impact on our plans to equip the BrahMos on the Su-30 MKI. We are holding talks with Russians at the end of this month to discuss installation of BrahMos launcher on the heavy air superiority fighter," a Defence Ministry source told PTI here.

On April 30, a Pune-based Su-30 MKI crashed over the Pokharan range in Rajasthan after carrying out a routine firing range, killing the co-pilot, Wing Commander P.S. Narah.

After the incident, the IAF has kept its entire fleet of Sukhois on ground and is jointly investigating the cause behind the accident with Russian experts from the Sukhoi Corporation.

India has sent two of its Su-30 MKIs to Russia where the airframe of the aircraft will be modified to accommodate world's only supersonic cruise missile on the aircraft's under-fuselage.

The supersonic cruise missile, BrahMos, is developed jointly by India and Russia.

"The work is expected to be completed on the aircraft by early 2010 but we have not set any deadline yet for competing the programme," an official said.

The missile has already been inducted by the Army and the Navy.

With a range of 290 km, the missile has a capability of carrying 300 kg conventional warheads at a speed of around 2.8 Mach.

Probably they meant Supersonic cruise missile installed under aircraft's under-fuselage. I don't know if it is the same case for other supersonic cruise missiles.

Ho no the DDM has attacked again

here is a list of SSCM's provided by Wiki

Supersonic Low Altitude Missile (SLAM) (not to be confused with the similarly named subsonic Standoff Land Attack Missile) and SM-64 Navaho were U.S. early-cold-war era projects for strategic long-range cruise missiles. Neither was accepted into service.

India, Russia to discuss roadmap for air-launched version of BrahMos news

India is moving ahead with its plans to equip its frontline air superiority fighter, the Sukhoi-30MKI with the air launched version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. According to agency reports, both India and Russia will be holding talks by the end of the month to discuss the issue.

India has already dispatched two of these heavyweight Su-30 MKI fighters to Russia for modification of the aircraft's fuselage so that they will be able Sukhoi 30MKI to carry the modified, air-launched version of the BrahMos.

The BrahMos supersonic cruise missile is joint Indo-Russian development.

Reports quote unidentified ministry of defence officials as saying that the modification work on the aircraft is expected to be complete by early 2010, though no deadlines have been set.

The aerial version of the BrahMos will be shorter in length than the standard land or marine versions and will have the capability to auto-launch towards the target after being released from the aircraft by the pilot.

Once the air-launched version has been fully developed the BrahMos will become the only cruise missile in the world to operate in land, sea and air versions. It has already been inducted by the Army and the Navy.

The conventional BrahMos has a range of 290 km and carries a 300 kg conventional warhead at a speed of around 2.8 Mach.

Meanwhile, Indian Air Force and Sukhoi experts are jointly investigating an April 30 crash of a Su030MKI fighter which resulted in the death of a crew member. The fighter, part of a group of four, was returning to base after a routine training sortie when it went into an uncontrollable spin.

The crash is the aircraft's first since its induction in 2002.
