That is true, but my question is different.
Instead of buying different versions of Arjun, IA considered around 500~600 Arjun mbt in the first place, to support a desi eco system and started a new MBT around 50T a decade ago
Now NG MBT is a distant dream, and may be - when DRDO complete lite tank development, Chinese deploy unmanned[autonomous] tank near to indo chinese border and IA starts RFI for autonomous lite tank.

@Blood+ saar what do you think about moving Arjun Mk1 and MK1A's main gunner sight above the gun like that configuration on challeger-2 ? with that we may solve one potential weakness on Arjun's turret design by properly closing that opening for the sight and providing proper armouring around there

I think the army wanted the gunner sight in the turret.

First time seeing the actual sensor on the front. Why does the CLGM need a separate guidance unit? Dont think I've seen anything like this on other tanks.

Does it provide any advantage?

Is this not a very weak spot to place an electronic module?

I know about this early Vickers based prototype and all, but even here that main gunner's sight is peeping out from the turret at near-top side. What i am asking for is just putting it on that swinging muzzle chassey of the main gun itself like on Challenger-2

When it was done with the challenger ii, the inline gunner's sight was done to enhance accuracy, make it easier for the FCS to dial in corrections for windage without having to worry about parallax errors and the like.

Modern day FCS have become just too damn good to care about such stuff

Why'd we want to operate more garbage?!.. We already got thousands.

Easiest way forward is to do some stopgap developments on the T-90... add a turret-autoloader, thicken the upper glacis to 900mm, slant the cheek armours to get a another 100mm thickness (which will be allowed by crew sitting lower with no hull autoloader)

I once made a T-100 concept when i was bored.

Wahi 450mm hy abhi bhi.. they tested one that they claimed to be over 600mm, but don't know if anything came of it
