Nonetheless, no more Arjuns are going to be ordered over the existing 124... And frankly, nor should they be.

At this point we can build 100 mothafuging T-90s each year, and other than Rusky daddy's royalty money, 100% homebuilt. Compared to that, Arjun still has 50% imported content including an outdated fuel-guzzling powerpack. It made sense to get them in 2005-10... not anymore. Now only progress in tech made during its journey remains.

The way forward is 50t tanks based on T-90 and/or K-9 chasis with protection traded off for high mobility.
yes arjun is having logistics problem but it outclass T90 in many areas. Anyway mk2 is still in the cards I heard that it weighs up to 60tn

No it isn't... We all know it really isn't.

No newsno updates in years now.
Bleh, I had posted info about Mk2 on DRDO thread. According to PKS, mk2 development is underway and hulls and turrets of 4 prototypes each made of HNS, have been delivered to CVRDE at Avadi for electrical/accessories outfitting and systems integration.

Yeeeeeeah... He's not really a reliable source anymore.

We've been hearing rumours for years. No photos. No official updates.

Hell, she be hearing that Mark1A was cleared & will be ordered soon for years.

Even if it comes by 2025 will be just a drag like prev version . IA will ask for FMBT just like they killed Excalibur rifle 😂😂😂😂

They really need to allocate their resources to upgrade T-90s and convert T-72s / Vijayanta as Light tank for Mountain warfare.

And use either Arjun , T-90s or K-9 for FMBT . A light 45 Ton class and a heavily armoured 55 ton class.

Nxt they can work on a 15 ton class tank that can be operated remotely .

Else Armata is already knocking on door.

Indian MoD concludes price negotiations for 118 Arjun Mk 1A MBTs
India’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) has concluded negotiations with the state-owned Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) to acquire 118 units of the indigenously developed Arjun Mk1A main battle tank (MBT) for the Indian Army (IA) for an estimated INR66 billion (USD888.7 million).

Official sources told Jane’s on 18 March that an “order of intent” will be placed “imminently” by the MoD with the OFB’s Heavy Vehicles Factory (HVF) at Avadi in southern India for this upgraded variant of the Arjun, which features 72 improvements, including 14 major ones, over the Mk 1 model.

The impending order will also feature a two-year engineering and support package that will include maintenance, spares and simulator training for the tank crews.

Deliveries are expected to begin within 30 months of the contract being signed and be completed within four to five years, OFB officials told Janes .

Once inducted, the upgraded Arjun Mk 1As, which were approved for procurement by the IA in late 2018 following validation trials, will supplement 124 Arjun Mk 1s that joined the service from 2004 onwards.

Engineers at the DRDO’s Chennai-based Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE), which designed the Arjun, said the Mk 1A’s enhancements include advanced thermal-imaging sights for night-time fighting, improved navigation systems, a digital control harness and a mine plough.

$7.53 million per unit
The deal of 13488 crore for just 464 tanks, gives a per unit cost of about 29 crores.
No. $888mil contract for 118 tanks, so $75mil per unit of Arjun Mark1A.
The 464 T-90S being ordered were $1.93bil that expanded to $3.12bil contract, so $67mil per unit. Pretty much comparable by price, but nowhere near its tech.

This Mark1A order won't ever fructify. At this point Arjun is not recoverable... Those T-90s should get as much of Arjun's tech as possible. Hopefully that'll happen (assuming from the price increase).

You are not using decimal. $75 million for a tank. You can get 15 tanks at this price.

Actually Arjun experience should be applied for next gen tank but exactly what tech can be transferred to T-90 production

Lol bro! Yeah. My bad, $75mil is fighter jet price range.

54crore for Arjun Mark1A & ₹49crores for (upgraded?) T-90S... Earlier it was about ₹25crore a piece, so maybe not the exact same thing.

Much of it. There were 72minor improvements!

The rotating smoke grenade launchers... the laser warning system... the sights & sensors... The BMS... The new mine-plough already in... The RCWS... New commander's panoramic sight... F&F ATGM... The auto-target tracking sysyem... Maybe the suspension too... The new ERA... The new composite armour... The high-nitrogen steel body... The steel aluminium alloy wheels... The rubbered tracks... Thermo Baric (TB) and Penetration Cum Blast (PCB) ammunition... Anti IR & TI paints & Mobile Camouflage System... Ideally the roof mounted driver's seat & turret bustle too.

Not sure of Rs54 Crore.
124 Arjun MBTs worth of Rs 1,760 crore in March 2000. Thats like Rs 14.19 crore per tank.

Where did you get the Rs 54 crore from?

$3.12bil for 464 T-90S
Divide & convert... Rasgulla that cost ₹1 in 2000 is now ₹5-6

The subsystems raise its price, not manufacture & it's got dozens new tech.

Indications are that the order for 118 x Arjun Mk-1A Main Battle Tanks will be placed soon. Here's our walkaround video of a Arjun MK-1A model detailing some of the features of the tank.

Arjun MBT is present in only 1 game in the world Tanktastic. There too it's good (great) at long range accurate gunnery. Some gameplay footage.
It's a great MMO, but consumes very little data... ZERO payment... Can be played at quite slow Internet speed too... Only 500mb.

My username is bleh, look me up for free advice 😅 I could use some "desi" mates there.
