DRDO for partnership to develop active protection systems - SP's Land ForcesJanuary 28, 2015: The DRDO's Combat Vehicles R&D Establishment (CVRDE) near Chennai is looking for a partner to co-develop active protection systems for armoured fighting vehicles developed and under development to provide the best posible protection to tanks and crew against a wide spectrum of threats including rocket propelled grenade (RPG), anti-tank grenades, HEAT, HESH, CE, KE rounds and advanced ATGMs. The lab has stipulated that the system should have fully automated detection, identification, tracking and neutralization of incoming threat, and must include a sensor suite, control system, set of protective ammuniton & launcher, launcher activation unit and display. The system should be able to engage threats from 50 to 150 metres and be capable of quick reaction neutralise incoming threats before 50 metres. The system should be able to intercept targets accurately when the armoured vehicle is in both static and dynamic conditions, should be safe for nearby troops and issue audio/visual warning during activation of counter measures, should have protection against accidental activation of the explosive charges due to small arms firing, artillery splinters or flares and other objects. Importantly, the system should have simultaneous multidirectional multiple threat detection and neutralisation capability with very high hit probability (95%) and should provide 360 degree hemispherical protection coverage. The active protection system will be used on the Arjun tank series, T-90S and armoured personnel carriers under development.
I posted about this a while back. The active protection system being looked at will most probably not be able to deal with KE threats as the threat velocity range they are looking for is 70-240 m/sec.DRDO for partnership to develop active protection systems

CVRDE is looking for partners to develop active protection system for Tanks/AFVs.
Objective
To jointly develop Active Protection System to provide best posible protection to the tank and crew against wider spectrum of threats including Rocket propeled Grenade (RPG), anti-tank grenades, HEAT, HESH, CE, KE rounds and advanced ATGMs.
Requirement
1. The system should be capable of detecting and neutralizing various threats viz. RPG, HEAT, HESH, CE, KE projectiles and ATGM fired from any kind of platform (Land or Air based). 2. The system should have fully automated detection, identification, tracking and neutralization of incoming threats which includes Sensor suite, Control System, set of protective ammunition & its launcher, Launcher activation Unit and Display.
3. The system should have Multi spectral Sensor based threat detection including RADAR, LASER Sensors to cover wide variety of threat velocities ranging from 70 - 240 m/s
4. The system should have accurate Intercept computation based on various threat parameters in both static and dynamic conditions.
5. The system should have engagement range from 50 to 150 m and quick reaction time to effect neutralization before 50m.
6. The system should be able to neutralize close range threats.
7. The system should have Simultaneous Multi directional multiple threat detection and Neutralization capability with very high hit probability (95%)
8. The system should provide 360 degree hemispherical protection coverage.
9. The system should be able to intercept the target accurately when the tank is in both static and dynamic condition.
10. The system should be safe for nearby troops and issue audio/visual warning during activation of counter measure.
11. The system should have protection against accidental activation of the explosive charges due to small arm firing, artillery splinters or flares and flying objects of earth.
12. The system should be robust, light weight and modular in design and construction.
13. The system should be based on Open System Architecture with BITE facility.
14. The mounting of the system should not affect the Silhouette of the platform.
Scope of Work
1. To design and implement hardware and software for Active Protection System meting the above requirements with required Interface.
2. Integration of Active Protection System in AFV
3. Field Evaluation of Active Protection System
4. The system developed wil be part of AFV which should met he following requirements
(a) Environment Test Miltary Standard MIL 810G/JS555
(b) EMI /EMC standard MIL 461F
(c) Power suply as per MIL1275D
(d) Aplicable Software Standards
Arjun mark II is all set to hit the grounds
From the Vid >>
We were not able to export any defence equipment even though there were requirement from customers abroad, Even for Arjun MK-I there were request but could not export because government (UPA) did not provide permission.
Source : Arjun Mk II Tank Clears All Army Trials Service Next Year - SP's Land ForcesFebruary 2, 2015: The Arjun Mk.II main battle tank has cleared all user trials with the Indian Army successfully and now awaits a maintenance evaluation by the Army and, crucially, a detailed evaluation by the Director General of Quality Assurance (DGQA). The Army has on order 118 tanks that will begin delivery once these two final evaluation processes are complete, likely by mid-2015. The Phase IV user trials demonstrated trench crossing and step climbing capabilities of the Mk.II tank starting in September 2014. Last year, dynamic trials of 120 mm penetration-cum-blast (PCB) ammunition for MBT Arjun Mk II were conducted successfully at PXE, Chandipur.
The Arjun Mk.II will conceivably begin entering service in 2016. With the already inducted fleet of 124 Arjun Mk.I tanks in two regiments in Rajasthan, the Army will be set to operate a total of four Arjun regiments. The Army has shown markedly more confidence in the Arjun Mk.II than it did in the original tank.
Sir great newsArjun Mk.II Tank Clears All Army Trials, Service Next Year

Isn't any other country interested in the mk.II? I heard of Israeli's praising it. A member called XiniX on PDF was all praise about it.
He quoted that too. Can we not market it in defexpos for sale to allies?Lets not bring terrorist fourm activities here, You can find article about Isreali test team in India praising it and calling it desert Ferrari ..
it is mostly because our end users are Indian defense forces, who are reluctant to buy Indian products (less chance of kickback mostly), it dosnt send a positive signal to overseas buyers, and we did not have any policy for export back then (it looks like the new Modi govt has started working on it and it will take some time).
our export ideas are in shambles which is clearly evident from the fact that we don't have any export version of our indigenous products. after all we cant sell our products to someone else in exactly same configuration as our armed forces use. use the army inducts Arjun, and FICV then only we can push our products for exports.

MK2, Little error about HMG
AAA based on Arjun chassis
It would be nicer if he makes model based on currect scheme that is Catapult and Armored recovery vehicle ..Air defense version on Arjun chassis
