Just to nitpick

When history of tank loss is written no one would really care and say if its Merkava 2 or 4 ..... they just managed to destroy it what was there that belonged to Israel.

If Merkava 2 was to destroy says Hizb Targets wont credit will be given to the tank and its crew ? And most comentator would be saying Israel managed to defeat the Hizb with Inferior tanks.

So the argument can work both ways .......Both the Hizb and Israel fought with what was there and the result are there to see.

I wonder what's holding up the the active protection system for Arjun considering that EFP based warheads for it were developed quite a while back.

because of all this Markava has trophy auto loader as standard equipment. Plus few more things like more protection at underbelly.
WHAT?
There is no confirm that any single serial (not test prototypes) of the Merkava. Mk.IV had Trophy in 2006 in lebanon.

Now Merkva Mk.IVM had as serial equipment Trophy-APS and in 3 confirm cases near gaza Borders Trophy on Merkavas was in use, in one case enemy ATGM even don't hit the tank (operator faliture) but in two other cases Trophy destroyed enemy RPG's.

Trophy is working on radar detector and two contrmeasures - MEFP (multi EFP). One luncher on eacht turret side. Under the luncher is small autoloader whit MEFP:

Visible - radar and MEFP countrmeasure.
And target destroing.

next:

Visible - empty luncher (1) and autoloader puting on luncher redy to explose MEFP casette (2-4).
Time to reload is circa 1,5-2s.

I hope I had explain.

Israeli Hand in India's New Tank

The Arjun Mk II tank, India's Future Main Battle Tank (FMBT), is currently under development, and is expected to include a number of Israeli systems, including the ALWACS system by Elbit Systems and "LAHAT" missile by the IAI . The Arjun Mk II will undergo five phases of user trials, out of which three have been completed, and the fourth is scheduled for May 2014, according to a publication on new indian express. The new tank will include an advanced laser warning and countermeasures system (ALWACS) and commander's open-architecture panoramic sight (COAPS) – both developed by Elbit Systems. According to online sources, The ALWACS will include four E-LWS sensors that can detect, categorize and pinpoint laser sources, including rangefinders, designators, beam-riders, and infra-red illuminators. E-LWS also enables direction indication for all threats, as well as audio and visual warnings. The system is immune to reflection, gunfire, lightning, fire and self-electro-optical operations. The other two components of ALWACS are an IR jammer, and two 8-launcher aerosol smoke screening systems. According to foreign sources, Elbit Systems has previously supplied the Indian Army with these systems for the Arjun Mk1A main battle tanks (MBT) in January 2012 (source). Another Israeli company that helped India to develop the new tank is IMI. The company helped to improve the overall design of the tank, specifically its turret and hull for more accurate and reliable firepower, and assisted in optimizing the production line processes

Missile Testing on Arjun MK II May be Delayed | idrw.org

India's indigenous Main Battle Tank, the Arjun MK-II may have its missile testing runs delayed for up to a year with some of the LAHAT missiles procured from Isreal Aerospace Industries misfiring during the end-user test runs conducted recently.
Director of the Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment P Sivakumar told Express on Friday that with two of the Laser Homing Attack Missiles misfiring during tests, further tests with the tank could be held up until next summer if IAI is unable to deliver missiles conforming to the requirements of the Indian Army by this summer.
"Two missiles misfired during the test runs earlier this year. With end-user regulations calling for mandatory tests during summer, IAI may not be able to deliver corrected missiles during this summer. If that happens, further missile tests will be carried out only next summer," he pointed out. The Laser Homing Missile capability is one of the 19 major upgrades in the MK-II.
With imported components playing spoilsport in CVRDE's flagship project and comprising almost 60 per cent of the MBT, Sivakumar responded to a query on higher levels of indigenisation in the MK-II by pointing out that the small number of units ordered by the end user made it very difficult to reduce the percentage of imported components in the tank.
"The economics involved make it very difficult for us to incorporate a higher level of indigenisation. If the order is increased to 400 units from 120, the indigenisation level could be brought up to 70 per cent," he stated.
But the CVRDE has also embarked on a `380 crore project for a completely Indian-made power pack for Futuristic Main Battle Tanks. The FMBT power pack will pack a power output of 1,500 hp and is expected to be in production by 2022.
"We have brought out the first specifications and completed the feasibility study. We will be developing the technology for the project along with other partners like the DRDO, IIT-Chennai, Ashok Leyland etc," he said.
The Arjun MK-II has already completed three of the five user trials required to be undergone by the prototype.

There is no viable operational scenario that calls for a gun fired missile. The lengths to which the army goes to scuttle a superior domestic product to facilitate the import of more expensive junk from abroad is breathtaking.
They will never order the Arjun in quantity to allow the indigenous component percentage to go up and this will then be touted to make a case for the imported content being high.
They will not order any of the bridges and recovery vehicles developed for the Arjun and this will be used as an excuse to scuttle the tank saying that they are not available.
I pray to God to protect India as there is little other hope.

Seems like an solution to one of your points, But given it should be mounted on Commander side, And commander should have a FN MAG ..

Please correct me if i'm wrong

8> Move the RCWS backwards and make it more compact so that the commander sight does not have blindspots in the frontal hemisphere.

Sorry if posted already...

Indian research in NERA-PASSIVE REACTIVE ARMOUR. PRA plates have been applied to mk-2 apart from ERA. ERA was designed by HEMRL whereas Passive reactive armour was designed by DMRL(the same lab that designed kanchan armour)
