The current Abrams has only a single main weapon, a 120mm smoothbore gun. The secondary armament is a 12mm gun, which is not really that effective against Armoured vehicles such as APCs. AbramsX has the ability to use both the 120mm gun and a new 30mm autocannon, which is effective against various targets, so it's basically having the armament of a tank and an IFV.


Now since the turret is unmanned, it's actually increases crew survivability (although they will be out of the fight), besides the fact that the crew will be in an armoured crew capsule.

But biggest advantage is that the crew will be side by side, which makes crew operability more enhanced, rather than sitting in different places.
