Maybe. i got this news from idrw.orgthisa report in hindu is bullshit.every other reports have suggested that all 4 missile tests(including 2 conducted today) are succesful.
More @ Misfortune strikes Akash missile project | Akash missile | | The New Indian ExpressMisfortune struck the Akash missile project once again during a user specific trial from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) off the Odisha coast on Monday. The missile reportedly fell down immediately after taking off from the road mobile launcher causing embarrassment for the DRDO. It was the missile's third trial of the six-trial series.
A reliable source from the test range told 'The New Indian Express' that though two missiles were lined up for tests, the first one fell down on the ground after it was blasted off from the launcher. The second one fired five minutes later was termed by the DRDO officials as successful.
"The first missile fell down due to technical snags in the system. The launcher did not get required command in time to fire the missile, for which heat generation to have initial thrust was not enough to push the missile upward. Scientists are looking for a possible solution to the faults and hope it could be sorted out before the next trial," the source said.
Even as the DRDO claims that the Akash is the only system of its kind available globally and several countries have evinced interest to procure the anti-aircraft weapon, a scientist associated with this project said the system has a problem with its radar for which the army had been denying it for years to induct in its forces. The delay in induction of a missile itself indicates its capability and efficiency, said a defence expert besides adding that the missile has not been proved foolproof yet despite several rounds of developmental and user trials over the years.
I find it hard to believe if India can boast of a successful BMD why can't they make a successful SR - SAM / E-Shorad?Akash is not related to SA-6 guidance, It don't have a seeker.
SAM miss targets alot..

Akash is an improved version of SA-6, and lets not forget Akash has been in development for 22 years.
irdw picked thos report from hindu only.Maybe. i got this news from idrw.org
Surface-to-air Akash fails to hit target in Second test | idrw.org
The rumours of unconfirmed test results and the news that DRDO are analysing data of a couple of launches maybe be the Mk II trials and it is exactly 24 months time since the news had been airedFRIDAY, JUNE 11, 2010
The Mark-II version of India's Akash surface-to-air missile has begun development and will be ready for a first flight in 24 months -- that's the guarantee its makers, the Defence Research & Development Laboratory (DRDL) have given to the Air Force and Army. With orders worth Rs 23,300-crore in the bag, the Akash is the currently toast of India's missile programme. Top sources have revealed that while most of Project Akash staff is currently focused on ensuring that serial production is trouble-free, a select team of scientists and engineers has been handpicked to begin Mk-II.
The Akash Mk-II will be a longer-range, faster and more accurate SAM. Ok, now here's the low-down on the Akash Mk-II. The missile will have an intercept range of 30-35 km, or a little over 10-km more than the Mk-I version. Apart from extending range, the Mk-II project mandate will be to increase accuracy of the missile's guidance system and the fire control system, push up the missile's performance, agility, speed, efficiency and accuracy. This will involve tweaking of almost all major systems, including the missile itself, signal processors etc.
Project Akash-II has set itself a deadline of 18 months to begin simulated trials, following which it will begin a routine of development test-firings. While Mk-I cost DRDO Rs 1,000-crore to complete, the Mk-II project has taken a decision not to ask for funds unless it absolutely needs them. An interim feasibility study conducted by the laboratories concerned has shown that scientists are confident of getting the first prototype up and ready on a modest tech-dem budget extended to all follow-on programmes.
very less chance as DRDO guys are too talkative and never do things on time!A little flashback:
Livefist: EXCLUSIVE: Akash Mk-II SAM To Fly In Two Years

as per this http://livefist.blogspot.in/2012/06/video-archival-footage-of-akash-missile.html@Saya that was an old Archival video.
Saya read the foot note below his video, he says he dug up old video.
ok my mistake, it is 2008 video.Saya read the foot note below his video, he says he dug up old video.
I saw this on his page yesterday night.
Anyway could you answer my above questions if you know?ok my mistake, it is 2008 video.
Please go through this page.Apparently Akash can not hit an Super Sonic aircraft and the chances of out running the Akash is HIGH!
Two main disadvantages are.
1) The speed of Akash is only Mach 2.5 and so an aircraft with full after burner can easily out run it at a distance.
2) The altitude reach of Akash is some what confusing, i have read it is only 20,000ft but there are other reports that seem to confuse the Radars visibility of 59,000ft with Missiles ability.
That link does not answer these questions. Please go through this page.
