We will stop Abusing DRDO when it starts delivering its promises.

And Praising it Through its inefficiency/incompetance is not gonna help India

DRDO works on a $2 billion annual budget. For people who lack perspective, the F 35 development will eventually cost the US close to $100 billion. Thats one program over 20 years = $5/year billion for one program.

@saya, they are bandaids, not waterproof hence cant fire the missile when it rains

@pm my reply was to BW and MI. Replied to your post in #356 :)

@Saya could be heat censors on RV. Off-course the censors wont survive Re-entry but i guess they are hopeing to see what is the highest they may encounter!

Is that the RV or is the RV inside the nose cone?

I doubt it. Even if the heat sensors survived the first few moments of re-entry, the envelope of plasma around the re-entering projectile will make it impossible for the sensors to transmit data - which in all probability will be in form of radio waves. Now, if they have data recorders inside the warhead shroud and they retrieve the projectile once it splashes into the sea, that is a possibility. Someone could perhaps confirm that.

Frankly, I was thinking of the same thing. Will our missiles be ineffective during thunderstorms? What about missiles of other countries? Are they also vulnerable to inclement weather?

Alternatively, is it safe to assume our missiles will work fine even in inclement weather, but it was postponed this time because they want to gather accurate measurements about the launch?
thunderstorm, lightning, rainfall etc etc all happens with-in earth's troposphere layer. The average depth of the troposphere is approximately 20 KM or 12 miles. once your missile leaves troposphere, there is absolutely no disturbances. missiles will then fly like a boss. if agni-5 travels at the speed of 5KM/second then the missile will be out of bad weather in just about 10 seconds. rain and wind will have no effect on the missile and lightening cannot harm missile because there is no earthing. so i am not sure what and why you guys are worried about bad weather.

however bad weather may effect radar tracking. this could be the reason why missile test was postponed.

yeah both for tele metric data, yeah it is RV.

What is the economic condition of India and US again?

And if they cant deliver that on time , Why rant about their supposed completion time. Why not state that they are inadequate in funds? Why cant they set a realistic target? Any way, all are OT. i dont want to go there.

I guess that should be the plan but no censor is going to survive that heat. Either way i am not sure if that Sphere cone is the war head or would we have 3 or multiple warheads inside the cone and would they be the real Re-entry vehicles?

Anyone know if re-entry would be like this or the whole sphere cone is the RV?

I dont think that is the RV, that is a pretty huge RV if you see the people standing next to it, it can definitely house smaller RVs inside for multiple Re-entry vehicles.

NDTV says that because of lightning at the launch site, it could damage equipment that is why launch was postpone.

Laser Ring Gyro which we hear so much about in our missile technology is shown at 00:30 seconds of the video.
