HAL may be buying more time than needed just in case for MK1A modifications. MWF first flight may be 2022 but it will go through thorough testing and validation much more than MK1A due to structural changes/new engine. We wont see complete validation for MWF before Mk1A for sure.

I am more inclined to think some modification for Mk1A will be available in 40 MK1 FOC standards. Never know with HAL though and I would like to see more FOC MK1 orders from IAF in the mean while to get ramp up and keep output at 16-24/year and retire those Migs.

@porky_kicker great covering of aero india 2019. :india:

That was claimed by PSK . I have no idea on small arms , I am a noob in this .

Anyways out of curiosity , any reason why a banana shaped magazine cannot accommodate 7.62x51 calibre bullets ?
the Banana shape comes as a result of the sharp tapering of Russian ammo.

7.62 x51 NATO is much more straight.
The bullet is the same in both 7.62x51 and 7.62x39, but the catridge is longer in 7.62x51. So, when you tightly pack the rounds (in two interleaving rows) inside the magazine the longer cylindrical cartridges (of 7.62x51) keep the rows straighter. But the proportionately longer bullet (compared to the cartridge) will tend to 'tip' the entire row forward - just a natural way of arrangement.
That's why one magazine is straighter than the other.

info on Brahmos NG

5 Brahmos NG can be carried by 1 SU30MKI

2 Brahmos NG can be carried by 1 LCA

2 Brahmos NG can be carried by 1 MIG29K

Range 300 km
Multi platform
Speed 3.5 mach
Expected first test after 3 years

Here's when one starts to think if the time estimates given by folks are just pulled from their posteriors at any given time.....

CGM of Brahmos says first flight of Brahmos-NG in 3 years
CEO of Brahmos says first flight of Brahmos-NG on Tejas (Mk1A?) in 2 years

Mishra also weighed in on another major initiative, a lighter but potent “NG” version of the BrahMos, which he said could be test-fired from the the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas Mark 1A within the next two years. The missile, he added, would be a real game-changer.

I simply don't trust any Indian media or journalist and that practically solves half of the problem.

For the other half if the concerned people don't stick to their own words , then the onus is on them.

I am a ordinary citizen what can I do ?
Other then gifting them telepathically some of the choicest expletives lol.

Brahmos-NG in air-to-air mode!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Honestly, I didn't see this coming)

https://theprint.in/defence/stage-s...-with-brahmos-missile-final-test-soon/196256/

“It is going to be the future of our armed forces,” he said. “Though initially designed for the Navy, we are now developing an air-to-air version,” he added, crediting Defence Secretary Sanjay Mitra for the idea.

He said the BrahMos NG would be used to hit slow-moving targets like a airborne warning and control systems (AWACS), transporters and refuellers.

Idea of turning Brahmos-NG into an air-to-air missile came from Defence Secretary (a babu in MoD)!!

This sounds like a film producer/financier asking the scriptwriter & director to add some intimate scenes in the movie (only suggestive teasing scenes but not exposure) to make it more 'appealing'!!!

Why so serious?

Indian companies outshine foreign vendors at Aero India

The biggest ‘Make in India’ contract it is pursuing – to produce 56 aircraft in partnership with Airbus to replace the Avro transport fleet – has not progressed into an order yet, despite a fouryear wait.

Indian companies are outshining foreign vendors at India’s biggest air show with a slew of announcements and large display areas, but when it comes to big domestic orders, the wait seems to be getting longer.

While the government’s showcase ‘Strategic Partnership’ model is limping along – the selection process of only one of the four programmes kicked off last month when tenders were sent for the Naval Utility Helicopter requirement – Indian companies have been working mostly on export orders that have been trickling in.

Several announcements made at Aero India are related to Indian private sector companies bagging international orders – Dynamatic delivered parts for the Airbus 330 while Axiscades declared that it will be supplying full flight simulators to a Slovakian entity – the order book of large players remains dismal.

The Adani Group – the latest big company to enter the defence and aerospace sector – is showcasing its Hermes 900 UAV at the show, which is on till Sunday. The plane is being made at its Hyderabad facility but the customer is the Israeli armed forces and an undisclosed Southeast Asian country.

The large order it will pursue, however, is for more than 150 drones required by the Indian armed forces. But despite the requirement being discussed in a request for information in 2017, the selection process has not even started.

Similarly, Tata Aerospace and Defence has one of the largest stalls at the show – that displays the parts it makes for the Pilatus PC 12 plane as well as the cabin for the Sikorsky S 92 chopper.

But these systems too are only for export orders. The biggest ‘Make in India’ contract it is pursuing – to produce 56 aircraft in partnership with Airbus to replace the Avro transport fleet – has not progressed into an order yet, despite a fouryear wait.

The lack of progress in big Make in India projects has been a major pain point for the private sector which sees public sector units still getting the lion’s share on a non-competitive basis.

All Delta wing fighters suffer from rapid energy bleed off in a high g turn and lack of aerodynamic control at high alpha. Thats just a consequence of the design of the delta wing. The addition of canards came about solely to try to overcome some of these difficulties but of course doesn't solve it 100%. The next step in evolution would be thrust vectoring which has been tested on the EF but not taken up by anyone due to cost...for Rafale never considered as the AdlA never wanted it.

However in the modern dogfight, the importance of instantaneous turn is much diminished by the advent of HOBS missile and HMS combination (which was pioneered by the MiG-29 but has since been advanced considerably by the West and Israel even as the Russians have stood still with the R-73 yet to be updated or replaced)
In some way, Naval LCA design is unique. Its Wing root extension works as LAVCON as well as canard and offer advantage of both by minimizing the disadvantage of Canards.
