My mistake, LCA mk1 & NLCA look similar except LEVCONS.....

There are no Structural (outside) changes from MK1 to MK1A...So I assume both are same... Are they not..!!

There are more structural differences between LCA Mk1 and NLCA (than just the LEVCONs). Take a look at the nose (which is drooped down in NLCA), the canopy is also much higher in NCLA (which I feel makes the 'overall' aircraft more streamlined). The underbelly is slightly different too. I also think that NLCA can carry more fuel.

Rafael steps up weapons offer for Tejas

Rafael is stepping up its efforts to provide systems for the Indian air force’s Hindustan Aeronautics-built Tejas light combat aircraft, with its current emphasis on offering air-to-air missiles and a targeting pod.

Yuval Miller, executive vice-president and head of Rafael’s Air and C4I Systems division, tells FlightGlobal that the wide co-operation with Indian companies enables it to offer systems which would bring the Tejas to a “4.5-generation” standard. It already has established joint ventures with Astra Microwave, Bharat Forge and Reliance Defence covering the transfer of technology and the establishment of local production sites, in compliance with New Delhi’s “Make In India” policy.

Miller says the Indian air force is evaluating the Israeli company’s Python 5 and 54nm (100km)-range I-Derby ER air-to-air missiles for the Tejas, while it is also promoting its Litening 5 targeting pod and BNET secure radio.

Rafael will also supply systems for the Indian air force’s future fleet of 36 Dassault Rafales, acting as a subcontractor to Dassault, Miller says. This will include Spice 250 and Spice 1000 precision-guided bombs to be used by both the French-built type and the Tejas, he adds.

Right but the 2nd line (converted kiran hanger) was already operational from Dec 2016 and HAL were waiting for CCS approval last week for setting up the 3rd line, why would this CCS approval be needed for the 2nd (already running) production line?

2nd line is not production line but kiran hanger converted into production line which only produces just 3 aircraft.

CCS approval is required anything above 1000 crore, cost of 2nd line is Rs 1,500 crore.

Hal will produce 16 tejas from these two production line, plus 3 extra tejas from Converted kiran hanger line.

Total 8 + 8 + 3 = 19 Tejas per year.

I am just going by the tweet bro, it designates this new line the 3rd production line(2nd being the converted hanger) but you consider it the second.

Either way we are talking about the same thing- the 2nd full-blown production line.

19 LCA/year by 2020 will be a pretty spectacular acheivement if HAL can pull it off, there will be scope to increase this yeat further by raising outsourcing from 60% (current target) to 80%, then from existing lines HAL could be churning out >25/year.

This kind of capacity augmentation truly suggests >200++ LCA will be ordered.

the 2nd, 1st production line was taken up by HAL themselves, the 3rd production line which will be a full-blown production line. By 2020 HAL could thus have an installed capacity to produce 19-20 LCA/ year (assuming the 3rd line is to make 8/year) or >25/year if they can get outsourcing beyond their current 60% target to 80%

You mean more than what was displayed in Bahrain?! would love to see Tejas do a display like this F-16:
Great display of flexibility and manoeuvreability. Tejas also has same specs as F16 on papers.
Only thing stopping up to do these stunts, We still do not have FOC.
Flying envolpe still not fully opened.
