Not in India maybe, here judges can. She was on a list of lawyers who took pro bono cases and the judge picked her from the list. She asked the judge to remove her but he said no.

Sir look at what she did to the girl , she personal accused her unstable and have a fetish for old men. She was hell bent on defending some one who she knew committed the crime.She could have put less effort on the case of she had heart .That girl had have a surgery which could not have completely fix her body because injury were so severe ,add to them it took more then 10 years of therapy to get here back to some sought of normal life.

I feel sorry for the girl but the system doesn't work like that here. If she didn't defend her client to the best of her ability she could lose her license to practice law and further, since this was near the start of her career, it would probably be career suicide. I don't know what she could have done differently and still salvaged her career. It doesn't mean what happened to the girl sucks any less but blame the prosecutors on the case for botching it and the system for letting the guy get away so lightly, not Hillary.
