Russia's Sukhoi Su-57 (also known as the PAK FA product and T-50) fifth-generation fighter jet already has an export permit, and the Russian government is currently reviewing documents to officially rename the aircraft from T-50 internal designation to Su-57, a source in the aviation industry told Sputnik Friday. "The PAK FA already has an export passport. The government is currently reviewing documents related to renaming the jet from T-50 to Su-57", the source said. On Thursday, Janes media outlet reported, citing Viktor Kladov, Rostec's foreign cooperation director, that Rostec had submitted all the necessary documents to the Russian government to secure an export permit. Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to give the final approval in a few weeks, the media added. According to state corporation Rostec's director for international cooperation, India has shown great interest in the newest Russian fighter jet. Separately, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu suggested last year that Turkey may buy Russian fighter jets if the United States fails to supply Ankara with F-35 fighters.

PAKFA or SU-57 is not much different from Rafale in terms of overall capabilities. It's after all only a so called 4.5 gen fighter. But while Rafale is fully mature, PAKFA is still very immature at its current state. So even Russia is not buying a lot of this jet (that should warn potential buyers).

According to the American VP, if Turkey buys S-400 they are getting kicked out of NATO so they probably would buy Su-57.

Back in 2008/9 there was a plan for 210-240 odd pak-fa.I believe it is possible,but given shrinking defence budget will affect other procurements.

Good for Russia. Chinese will buy a handful 24 pakfa copy it by reverse engineering it and rename it J-57 and say f*ck off to Russians. They deserve it....

Another reason why India should not buy Su-57 (aside from the fact that Russia itself does not seem to have a lot of confidence in it).Good for Russia. Chinese will buy a handful 24 pakfa copy it by reverse engineering it and rename it J-57 and say f*ck off to Russians. They deserve it....

IAF seems to know well in advance what Russian programmes will fall flat on their face. They bailed on the MTA and 8 years later the first prototype only has a 1 tonne useful load. The Su-57 is so useless Russia prefers the Su-35 instead.
