The chart is old, Types of 5.56mm OFB produce, The SS109 was used during 1999 war and has less potential for killing ..

The core is steel and they are AP in nature ..

==================

From top, The third one is of OFB design ..

Its call BALL MK-1A ( steel core, AP nature ) and its standard, Tracer comes with marks ..

Metal boxes with handles which contain cardboard boxes each contain 20rnds ..

No special identification mark like a tip color to signify AP ? How does the soldier know if it's ball or ap or tracer ? Also how does ofb package ammo ? Is it like soviet/russian sealed spam cans inside wooden boxes, or something else like nato ammo tins with handles ?
So every round made by OFB is steel core?
And thank you for the replies.
Have we discussed the topic anytime to check the possibility that maybe it’s not the merits of the foreign weapons offered for trails that’s determining the selection criteria rather it’s the OFB ammo’s compatibility that’s a major factor..

All types of ammo of same caliber don’t have the same outcome with the same rifle. Since foreign weapons don’t keep OFB ammo in mind while designing their weapon, compatibility is a matter of chance when the trials happen.

Am I making sense?

Kunal very interesting pics. Particularly one with LMG INSAS with high power daylight scope (?). Magazine fed LMGs are always meant to have sniper/DMR role. Glad to see Army proactively leveraging this capability

Increase of operational cost is one among many.
How? Beretta MX4 (9x19mm) is the size of an AR 15 pistol (5.56x45mm). You can get a JVPC carbine (5.56x30mm) for much less!

Comparison :

AR 15 (5.56x45mm)

JVPC (5.56x30mm)

MX4 STORM (9x19mm)

Simply because the deal pre dates the induction of MSMC, Amogh or Anamika.

Due to the availability of 9mm in large among paramilitary forces its easy to operate a 9mm sub-machine gun.

@Chinmoy , why is increase of operational cost ?

No Amogh. Only JVPC makes sense as part of procurement.
Why not simply get JVPC instead of these Beretta MX4? This looks like a bad deal!

Although @Kunal Biswas already replied, I would just highlight the aspect.

I was talking about increase in operational cost of the troops. ITBP or BSF operates three different caliber as of now.
5.56 NATO
7.62 AK
9x19 parabellum.
These are standard operating rounds available at any given time apart from few special ones. Now bring in 5.56 MINSAS and it mean 4 different rounds. Operational cost for any commander would increase with that.

We can't replace any of the existing rounds with MINSAS as of now.

Another aspect for non deployment of JVPC on front line is its maturity. As a weapon system it has not matured enough. It would be good to deploy them with CISF as replacement for 9 mm SMG forst and let it mature enough.
