Moto of this thread to understand how CCP members are elected or selected ? How hirarchy works ? Do CCP members require any qualification ? How do they get promoted to top level ? How accountability is ensured ?
How CCP judicial system works ?
How civil servants are selected ? What is their syllabus ? Role of academia in chinese governance policy ? Do china prefer specialists over genralists to make its policy ? Also some information on ccp police system
@sunshine @rockdog @SexyChineseLady

Keep the thread informative and academic .

I think the covid pandemic gives CCP more right to totally control the even most micro area of the whole Chinese society.

From the classic theory of western, it's might be an authoritarian society, but when a crisis comes, it might be a strengh. The national wide of mobility and over-disciplined people ensured China is the only recovered big nation among all the them.

China has a freemarket system with a single dominant party. Pretty much the same as Japan, South Korea, Singapore and other high performing East Asian countries.

If it were a full blown commie nation, it would be as poor as Cuba or North Korea. lol

Those surveys were taken in an area filled with Chinese Communist Party members (CCP) who are much better off than the majority of China's population, brainwashed by CCP since birth, and terrified of the consequences of speaking out against the CCP for fear of being sent to prison labor camps.
Here are the facts: At least 50 percent of Chinese people live on less than 10 percent of the GDP, and that is according to statistics watered down by the CCP, and doesn't include taxes or slave labor camps. Which means that more than 700 million Chinese are below the poverty line. And that number does not even include minority areas tightly controlled by CCP police or censored by CCP media. It doesn't include tens of millions of people in CCP's prison and slave labor system who are hidden from the world. All information coming from CCP bots is propaganda and cannot be trusted, because common Chinese people have very limited access to the outside world due to CCP's great firewall, plus most don't speak English. The English speaking bots on forums outside China are propagandists brainwashed by the CCP to spread the CCP's lies to the world, even as common Chinese workers are exploited by CCP; and CCP's prisons and slave labor system uses minorities (like Tibetans, Uyghurs, Mongolians, etc), CCP protestors, Falun Gong members, and common Chinese people arrested unjustly by CCP police for slave labor and harvesting their organs. CCP also sends out CCP agents as students and workers to other countries to steal their IP from foreign universities and foreign companies. The creator of the Wuhan bioweapon Covid virus Shi Zhengli learned how to make it from American scientists through gain of function research, before CCP unleashed the Covid pandemic on the world by using common Chinese people travelling internationally as carriers.

Watch the video of the interview at this website.
Gordon Chang: Communist China Has Committed ‘Mass Murder’ of Americans
Last year, Congressman Eric Swalwell’s ties to the suspected Chinese spy Fang Fang brought Chinese espionage to the forefront of national discussion. But that was just the tip of the iceberg.

And beyond espionage, the Chinese Communist Party has become increasingly belligerent globally—from fueling riots in America to encroaching in Nepali territory to celebrating COVID-19 deaths in India. What is the Chinese leadership hoping to achieve, and why do they believe—according to Chang—that they are running out of time?

Furthermore, one year on, over 3 million people have died globally from COVID-19. Beyond covering up the initial outbreak, did China’s communist leaders intentionally spread this virus beyond its borders? And if it did, what does that mean for America and the world?

In this episode, we sit down with China analyst Gordon Chang to understand the full scope of Chinese communist subversion.

Mr Johnq, Gordan Chang is the real CCP agent, you didn't know that?

From Quora:

... ...
I’m not very famillar with him but I searched a similar answer on the Chinese version of Quora (Zhihu), and I found the answers to be pretty funny that I would like to translate part of them just for the purpose of sharing.

“What is your opinion on Gordon Chang?”

Answer from “Xiluzhanwoyi”writes,

“The magnum opus of Mr. Gordon Chang - ‘The Coming Collapse of China’, was a great masterpiece, it has profound realism and historical meaning, and has been seen by many western experts as ‘The Book’ of studying China, it really deserves its name. Since the book was published in 2001, China has collapsed all the way from the 6th place to the 2nd place, and will continue to collapse as per Mr. Chang’s perdiction, until it finally reaches the No.1 superpower.”

-“Although some people in the west has realised that he is a ‘fraud’, he has largely successfully fooled the west to take no serious about China. The period from 2001 to now was a period of great strategic importance, and thanks to his work, China has gained an incredible opportunity to develop sliently behind the scene, he is a master of fooling, a warrior in disguise, and a great hero to our country.”

“As a great Chinese decendent and a warrior working abroad, he has done incredible things for our country, when comrade Chang finishes his job and returns home, I suggest a big gold medal being issued to him!”

An anonymous answer writes,“Hey, stop it, dudes! If you make comrade Chang expose his identity, you guys will suck.”

Damn, I watched Gordon Chang on CNN a few times but I never realised that he is a Chinese decendent (half Chinese). Now that I know it, I immediately ask myself, can we really rule out the possibility that he is actually working for China? :p

... ...

LOL, only Chinese Communist Party propagandists post on quora and then make it look like facts to try to make a CCP critic like Gordan Chang look bad. That is idiotic, because most people can already see through CCP propaganda.
Was the coronavirus created by Chinese scientist who tried to cover her tracks — and failed?
Dr. Shi Zhengli's January 2020 'discovery' was the equivalent of trying to wipe the fingerprints from a gun that had just been used to commit murder

Dr. Shi Zhengli, known as China’s batwoman, was worried. Her creation, a highly infectious coronavirus, had leaked from her lab in October. Early efforts to stop the widening circle of infections had failed. It had spread like wildfire through the densely populated city of Wuhan.

The Communist authorities were also worried that the source of the epidemic would be traced back to the Wuhan lab. To muddy the waters, on January 3rd, China’s National Health Commission ordered all biolabs in China to destroy not only the samples of the SARS-CoV-2 that they had isolated from those infected, but also the genetic sequencing of the virus’ RNA strand. Dr. Shi must have been only too happy to cover her own tracks—evidence suggests she had already started doing so–by destroying the evidence of the deadly virus’ actual origins in her lab.

It was the equivalent of trying to wipe the fingerprints from a gun that had just been used to commit murder.

The “gun” itself couldn’t be destroyed, however. In fact, the murder weapon used was busy replicating itself by the billions within each and every person who came down with the China Virus.

Dr. Shi and her superiors, undoubtedly including Major General Chen Wei, the head of the PLA’s bioweapons program, knew that the coronavirus she had assembled using recombinant technology was so different from other known coronaviruses that it would raise suspicions. None of the other known beta-coronaviruses, the family from which her “backbone” coronavirus came from, had anything resembling the genetic sequence she had inserted to make it more infectious to humans.

To reinforce the “Wet Market” cover story, namely, that this new pathogen had come from nature and not from her lab, something had to be done. And it had to be done quickly, since by then the China Coronavirus had spread to the rest of the world. Anger against China for its lack of transparency about the origins and characteristics of the virus was growing.

Dr. Shi decided to “discover” a new bat coronavirus that was very similar to the one she had created. That “discovery” would prove that coronaviruses similar to SARS-CoV-2 were found in nature, and so deflect the growing suspicion that she had engineered it in her lab.

The similarity between the two coronaviruses—including their common ability to infect humans–would greatly reinforce her story that the SARS-CoV-2 had jumped from a bat to a human, perhaps through some intermediate species at the Wuhan wet market.

So, all Dr. Shi had to do was sit down before her computer keyboard, open a word file, and begin to fabricate the SARS-CoV-2 analogue that she would claim to have found in nature seven years before. All she had to do was type in the genetic sequence of her own creation, SARS-CoV-2, changing a few nucleotides now and again to mimic the “random mutations” that regularly occur in nature.

She could easily have completed the “data entry” part of her task in a day, since all she was doing was entering in a string of letters alternating between the four nucleotides, A, U, G, and C. And coronaviruses contain less than 30,000 different nucleotides.

Dr. Shi registered her new virus on January 27th, 2020, with the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) of the U.S. National Institutes of Health, the customary repository for such information. She called it RaTG-13, Ra for Rhinolophus affinis, the Latin name of the Intermediate Horseshoe Bat, and 13 for 2013, the year she supposedly “discovered” it.

A lot of people have been taken in by Dr. Shi’s clever “discovery,” which is looking more and more like a forgery. No one else has independently verified its existence. No other lab has a sample of it, and no one else has ever sequenced it. And of course, they likely never will, because more and more evidence suggests that it exists only in a string of letters on her computer.

It was a brilliant scheme, and it almost succeeded. The Chinese virology community—following new, strict Party guidelines—has published a flurry of studies suggesting that the existence of RaTG-13 proves that SARS-CoV-2 came from nature. They claim that other “first cousins” of the China Coronavirus will soon be found to exist in nature if we just keep looking. They do genomic analyses showing that RaTG-13 and SARS-CoV-2 are 96% identical throughout the whole sequence of the viral genome. They calculate that the two share a common ancestor a few decades back.

Actually, the only thing the two virus genomes have in common is Dr. Shi herself, who engineered the one and appears to have fabricated the other.

As clever as Batwoman is, however, she did not commit the perfect deception. She left behind a few key clues that reveal, as clearly as fingerprints on a murder weapon, what she was up to.

One blogger, writing at Nerd Has Power, has brilliantly teased these findings out of the data. The blogger’s efforts can be read here if you have a free afternoon and a strong math background. I offer here a summary of one of the blogger’s critiques, in the hope of making the blogger’s general line of argument accessible to the layman. Because he published his raw data, I and others have been able to check and verify his work. I offer here a summary of one of the blogger’s critiques, in the hope of making the blogger’s general line of argument accessible to the layman.

An Impossible Ratio: As viruses evolve, they mutate. That is to say, one of the four nucleotides is randomly replaced by another. Most of these random mutations do not produce changes in the amino acids that make up the protein. Such mutations are called “synonymous”, since the three-nucleotide “codon” still codes for the same amino acid despite the change. Like a synonym in a thesaurus, it “looks” different but “means”—in terms of the amino acid and resulting protein—the same thing.

But then there are “non-synonymous” mutations. These are mutations that do change the resulting amino acid and hence the configuration of the resulting protein. In nature, the ratio of synonymous to non-synonymous is approximately 5:1.

Here’s where Dr. Shi got into trouble. When typing in the genomic sequence of her “discovery” she made way too many non-synonymous changes at the beginning. Then, one-third of the way through the sequence, she apparently realized her error. After that, she made way too few non-synonymous changes. So while the entire genome has the expected 5:1 ratio, there are stretches where the ratio is closer to 2:1, and other long stretches where it is as high as 44:1.

Nature’s mutations are random. Dr. Shi’s “mutations” are not. Dr. Lawrence Sellin has calculated that the odds that her “mutations” occurred naturally in just one area—the critical spike protein–at almost ten million to one.

If RaTG-13 is merely a strategic deception, as I believe it is, then what real coronavirus did Dr. Shi enhance in “Gain-of-Function” research to create the highly infectious SARS-CoV-2? Evidence suggests that a coronavirus from a People’s Liberation Army biolab may have played this role.

If Dr. Shi’s research was in any way connected with the PLA’s bioweapons research program, this would go a long way towards explaining China’s bizarre behavior – the secrecy, the serial lying, the brutal quarantine, the persecution of whistle-blowers, the seeding of the virus around the world, and the furious rejection by Beijing of the idea of an international commission to investigate the origin and spread of the disease. It all seems wildly overwrought, even by the standards of a conspiratorial Communist Party whose leaders suffer from a pathological paranoia.

Be that as it may, there is one thing about Dr. Shi’s research that we do know with absolute, ironclad certainty: The U.S. was helping to fund it. From 2013 onward, the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases, run by the now-famous Dr. Anthony Fauci, gave $7.4 million for research involving gain-of-function work and collecting and studying bat coronaviruses, $600,000 of which went to the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Much of the rest went to other labs in China.

If Dr. Fauci was as familiar with the Chinese Communist Party as he is with viruses, he would not have sent the Wuhan Institute of Virology one thin dime. He would have known that the PRC has a long-running program to develop bioweapons. He would have concluded that China’s only BSL-4 high containment lab was the obvious place to carry out at least some of this research. And he definitely did know that the “Gain-of-Function” research he was funding had the potential to create “Pathogens of Pandemic Potential” that might not be used for peaceful ends.

Apparently none of these considerations ever crossed his mind.

Now that Western intelligence services have concluded that SARS-CoV-2 probably is a man-made chimera that leaked from a lab — a lab that he was funding — you might think that Dr. Fauci would be inclined to reevaluate the role he played in this global debacle.

Instead, he continues to tell us that there is “no scientific evidence the coronavirus was made in a Chinese lab” and that there is “no evidence” that it leaked from the lab.

It is a sad end to a career that was at least long, if not particularly illustrious.

He seems to post the same woke articles a thousand times each.

I think JohnQ is more than one person. He doesn't seem to have any interest in anything besides bashing China. His account works like corporation's marketing department!

Everyone knows I like to wear bikinis, watch Tik Tok videos and oogling CPOP boybands! But what does JohnQ like (besides bashing Chinese people with cut&pastes?)

From Quora:

Maybe FOX News pays him good money to bash China. I would have never heard of him if my obsessively right-winged aunt didn’t suddenly tell me (after laughing at her friend who listens to some New-Age Japanese “sage”) that this guy named Gordon Chang is saying that China is collecting the DNA of Americans so they can create a new virus that will exterminate Americans! I started laughing so hard, and then searched to see what she was on about. Surprisingly there is precious little about Gordon Chang in reputable media channels. It was hard to find anything good or bad about him, and the only source I found easily that entertains this nut is, you guessed it, FOX News!!!

Then I found this Quora discussion, and I was trying to get a word in edgewise, while she was ranting and raving, but it was hard. I finally told her that it’s really laughable and the best summary of this dude that I could find was the comment here by Kevin Chung, which concludes with: “He is nothing but scum, living a life of denial.”

That is who he is in a nutshell. But yeah I think he’s making good money with FOX News since what he says is right up their alley of spreading hateful dangerous rhetoric to keep the deplorables watching and keep their ratings up!

Well it is easy when you have a full team of anti-chinese peoplecand can paste from a scripted list of conspiracy theories that doesn't bother to look at ground realities -- like how can an evil repressive regime end up with the world's largest markets for cars, KFC fried chicken, IMAX movies, $2K handbags and mermaid certificates? lol

It takes a very very large middle class to do create those markets. Cannot happen with a true commie dictatorship.

Oh, and watch what happens in the next few years with the vaccine market. China is setting up an industry (5 Covid vaccines! 3 of them cutting edge mRNA) with so much capacity that it will make vaccines cheaply and safely for everyone.

Can North Korea or the old USSR do this? Nope. No commie state can turn on a dime and pivot to new market opportunities like this. This is East Asian freemarket dynamics.

Again he seems to be simply full of hate for one race. It's not even ideology because China's is far closer to the US in the freemarket sense than the USSR, Cuba or NKorea.

Again, it is not possible for a commie dictatorship who are always inefficient poverty creators to pivot on dime and capitalize on market opportunies like the current vaccine industry in China.

Even I'm stunned by how quickly this industry is being formed and I'm a Chinese bot!!! lol

This industry is unfolding in front of our eyes!!!

Look for nasal vaccines coming from China soon! Just squirt in nose! No needles!

Chinese party setup - Consolidate all power with one organization.

Kill any dissent. Kill all opposing thoughts. Kill anyone who appears to threaten great leader.

Use tanks to kill your countrymen. Steal from the whole world.

The good thing is, the title of this thread is "understanding CCP governance" which means at least same one (Indian) start to not simply called CCP as commie regime owner, of course i never expect Johnq would really think such way.

The CCP governance is much more complicated than a batch of crazy commies using guns and sticks to manage 1.4 billion people.

It created 2nd largest economy entity and will be the 1st very soon, the top brains are the most smart asses and long term planner, even sometimes they are rude and cruel. I m not a fan of CCP, but i think they are much more capable than both parties of India.

China is actually the world's largest economy (by a wide-margin) when it comes to consumption.

How can an economy that buys more cars, watches more movies and travels more than the US have a smaller GDP? It is actually much bigger than the US by most measures.

And no, this cannot be achieved by a commie dictatorship. Only capitalistic economies are capable of this.

BTW, do commie states have powerful stock markets like China? Markets so strong that Chinese companies can raise massive capital even when attacked by white people?

The USSR never even had a stock exchange!

China stocks defy US blacklisting surging by nearly 20% this year
https://www.ft.com/content/b380c058-e069-4286-8c68-f631fc7e95eb

Former US President Donald Trump’s push to blacklist companies with alleged links to the Chinese military has hit western investors in the pocket. But it does not appear to have hurt the sanctioned companies themselves.

...
So far, at least, the move does not appear to have hurt the intended targets. As of mid-April, a weighted basket of the sanctioned entities had returned 17.6 per cent, data show. Stocks such as CRRC, SMIC, China Mobile and China Telecom are up between 18 and 28 per cent so far this year.

Just more Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Propaganda repeatedly posted by mindless CCP bots all over the internet. Most cars in China are owned by rental companies, not individuals, and are used by rideshare drivers. That does not make the rideshare drivers rich; they are living on monthly wages. Movies in theatres are a relatively cheap form of mass entertainment; and CCP propagandists love to use 2020 statistics when most theaters in western countries were closed due to pandemic lockdowns. Also, the trend in the west has been shifting away from movie theaters and into custom built home theater systems. People in the west simply prefer to stay home more than in previous generations. Thirdly, the bulk of travelling outside China is done by CCP spies/IP thieves in the form of students and workers in other countries' universities and companies. These trips are sponsored and paid for by the CCP explicitly for the purpose of IP theft in the case of students and tourists, while the workers are sponsored by the companies but also on CCP payroll for IP theft. It's the world's largest IP theft operation, so CCP bots can be proud of that. The Chinese GDP is smaller than the US GDP in spite of having over 4 times the population. Also, the wealth distribution in China is screwed up because the wealthiest 10 percent (the CCP and their families and friends in big cities) keeps 70 percent of the GDP, while the poorer 50 percent lives on 10 percent of the GDP, and that is according to CCP's watered down statistics that don't include taxes or hidden slave labor camps and prisons with tens of millions of minorities, political prisoners, anti-CCP protestors, Falun Gong members, and common Chinese people arrested unjustly. It also does not include the fact that organs are harvested from these prisoners and sold for profit by the CCP. The reality of China is that at least 50 percent of the population is below the poverty line by modern standards, and large numbers of people are slaves. But CCP's media censorship and police hide that from the CCP bots who live in big cities, and brainwashed by pro-CCP propaganda from birth. The bulk of CCP's wealth comes from worker exploitation and IP theft from foreign universities and foreign companies inside and outside China.
