DEFENCE NEWS – HAROP KILLER DRONES
Full Article:- https://saluteindia.org/defence-news-harop-killer-drones-microsat-r-military-satellite-launched/

In a bid to enhance its unmanned warfare capability, the Indian Air Force is planning to acquire around 15 more HAROP attack drones which can crash into high-value enemy military targets to destroy them completely. The IAF already has an inventory of these drones which are equipped with electro-optical sensors to loiter over high-value military targets such as surveillance bases and radar stations before exploding them.

As of now, the proposal for acquisition is under consideration. Once approved, the Indian Air Force would be exercising the option clause in the previous deal signed a few years ago with Israel which is the main supplier of all types of drones to the IAF. Also under discussion with the Israelis is Project Cheetah, under which almost all the drones of the three services would be turned into high-quality attack drones and their surveillance capabilities would also be enhanced. At present, the three Services have a fleet of more than 100 UAVs, acquired over the years in different batches. Work is also in progress on developing indigenous combat drones which would be deployed on India’s Western and Eastern borders.

Boeing progresses unmanned combat jet Loyal Wingman programme

Boeing has fielded a team of 15 autonomous test bed aircraft to refine autonomous control algorithms, data fusion, object detection systems, and collision avoidance behaviours.

The combined lab and field tests are important steps in meeting the goals of the Loyal Wingman – Advanced Development Program.

The program will result in a prototype aircraft that will test the potential of this cutting-edge technology. It is designed to protect and extend airpower by teaming multiple unmanned platforms with manned assets to achieve a range of missions.

U.S. military says Russian air defenses shot down American drone over Libyan capital

The news agency Reuters reported Saturday that the U.S. military believes that unarmed U.S. Africa Command remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) reported lost over Tripoli, Libya, Nov. 21 was in fact shot down by Russian air defenses and it is demanding the return of the aircraft’s wreckage.

U.S. Army General Stephen Townsend, who leads Africa command, said he believed the operators of the air defenses at the time “didn’t know it was a U.S. remotely piloted aircraft when they fired on it.”

Raytheon Missile Systems has completed airframe development of the latest variant of its Coyote family of UAS. Now it is conducting command-and-control integration along with a rigorous launch and flight test programme. Coyote Block 3 is a Modular Opena Systems Approach (MOSA) evolution of the earlier Coyote Block 1, which is in service with the US Army.
